Default ABBA: The Movie' - High-Def Digest Review

Peter's review of 'ABBA: The Movie' has been posted. He says there's some interest to be found if you can appreciate some of the bands classic pop gems, but this is pretty much for fans. This Blu-ray boasts strong video and audio and a couple of entertaining supplements.

Yeah, I'm deeply ashamed, but I really like this movie. In fact, I was just about to buy this very Blu-ray over at Xploited, but hilariously enough I was having a hard time finding a good review of it to make sure it was worth the import price. Thanks!

Or maybe no thanks. I'll let you know after the first time a visiting friend sees I actually have this.

I've got the Westinghouse TX-42F430S 42" 1080p LCD. I know you may have heard bad things about it, but I've got to tell you: Never buy the Westinghouse TX-42F430S 42" 1080p LCD.

I'm assuming that the UK HD-DVD release is the same as the Australian Blu release is? I'm very well tempted to get the UK HD-DVD release. Already own the SD-DVD which I've been very happy with but of course would love to watch this in the full glory of 1080p.

And for the record.... I happen to like *ALL* of ABBA. Even the cheesy songs from the early days. Fun of course but cheesy to listen to. But then again music should be fun.

The HD DVD and Blu-ray seem to be comparable in quality, though they were authored by two different companies. There's a really exhaustive (if not incredibly technically detailed) comparison here.

Bono called Abba "the greatest pop band of all time" and he is right.

Don't know about this though.

Thanks a lot! Now I have Dancing Queen looping in my brain! My wife dragged me to see the Mamma Mia production.

I never listened to their music much but Abba had the same type appeal as the Beatles did when they started out .Their music is very infectious and has a simple happy innocence about it that is refreshing.
I might even buy this disc.

This must be that video they're always playing in IKEA. Don't need to get it since I've seen it all whilst browsing the bookshelf dept.
- Just bought Bonnie and Clyde and it looks fantastic, love the packaging too.

I confess, too!! I love ABBA and all the cheesy music. Even they say that they would love to disintegrate all pictures of their on-stage costumes!

I also wish to get the UK HD-DVD version of the film.

Oh-- would someone please tell the poster above just who the group who outsold Elvis and The Beatles was!!!!
