Thumbs up 'Layer Cake' - High-Def Digest Review

Kenneth's review of 'Layer Cake' on Blu-ray is up, and it looks like we have another reference-quality high-definition disc. Kenneth quite likes the film itself, but it's the 4.5 (out of 5) star video transfer and the 5 star audio mix that's the real headline here.

Got the blu-ray, awesome release. Funny to see Blu-ray having reference quality releases week after week lately... isnt that unfortunate.

i've heard great things about this movie over the last 2 weeks from people in this forum talking about how good it is to people in this forum asking where in the world is the layer cake review. after watching daniel craig in casino royale, i have to say that i thought his performance as Bond was superb, but the thing is that i never liked watching pierce brosnan in any movies other than the 007 films (i'm 17 so my generation of bond and the heavy arrival of the bond videogamnes have been all pierce brosnan) because it ust feels strange and idk i just never liked it. i'm a huge blind buyer since i bought my high definition dvd players and for almost all of the blind boughten hd titles, its been great. and i think i'm gonna buy this since it got a great review from this site, it has been compared to goodfellas (nuff said) and has one of my new favorite actors starring in it in daniel craig. and of course, being only 15 dollars at amazon!!!! is great!! but one of the few flaws in this is that it seems like it's a complete british movie. nothing agaisnt the uk, but i'm just used to american movies ya know (not including 007 movies though, those are better than anything). but after watching V for Vendetta, an entire british movie which i liked a lot, i think i'll give layer cake the blind buy that i should.

and i do know that this movie came before casino royale.

Yeah it seems that way. Casino Royale, The Prestige, Rocky Balboa, The Pursuit of Happyness, Layer Cake. Those are all the ones I can remember.

yeah not to mention the recent release of stranger than fiction which was great and the kinda too old to mention release of ladder 49, still making a very strong group of releases. if only universal could do the same by releasing GOOD TITLES like scarface, jaws, the american pie trilogy, the bourne identity. instead theyre releasing garbage like the watchers or whatever.

I always go to the secondary dealers on amazon. The new and used section. I have never had a bad experience with them and they are always cheaper. I just bought the holiday for 20.99 brand new. Its regularly 27.99 on amazon.

Great film. My eyes were glued to the screen from start to finish. It deserves multiple viewings. Oh yeah, Sienna Miller is hot too.

i thought the ending was awesome because of how unique and to me, unsuspecting it was. **small spoiler** i thought the dukes nephew was just some wanna be gangsta but he pretty much is. but i heard there will be a sequel cuz the guy that wrote layer cake is writing a sequel where XXXX is living in the caribbean. got it from wikipedia.

I'm hoping for a sequel. That movie is so underrated and deserves much more credit. Matthew Vaughn did an excellent job directing and the scene transitions were amazing.
