Default 'Independence Day' - High-Def Digest Review

Peter's review of 'Independence Day' has been posted. He's not the biggest fan of the film itself, but says this Blu-ray release is easily the best the film has ever looked and sounded on home video. The extras are lackluster, but if you just want to watch the best version yet of 'ID4' on your home theater then this disc is worth checking out.

Is the director's cut on the disc? I didn't see it in the review.

I think this is the first Bracke review I disagree with. I agree its not "The Hours" but its still a blast. Its popcorn fluff but you're never bored.

No, theatrical cut only. Which doesn't really matter to me as I have never seen the longer cut. I already love the movie as is.

Yeah, I actually like it better, the only real change is the ending, and it just fits better to me.

I'll hold off on this then and keep my 2 disc DVD set with the director's cut on it.

With this one, I just wanted to make sure that they had the LFE right. Because I already had screen shots of the PQ. Enjoy.

SOLD!

I agree with Peter's review 100%. A terrible, terrible movie. I think I threw up in my mouth a bit when it's announced that the heroic Americans are going to lead an attack and all the rest of the world can do is say "oh thank God!"

This film alone has made me dislike almost anything Will Smith has been in. I can't help but associate him with the annoying character he plays in this film.

Finally, I think the cinematic actions of David Duchovny signify my feelings for this film best: In the X-files movie, Duchovny's character is seen pissing on a poster for ID4. 'Nuff said.

Wow, thanks for post those. Thats one thing I don't like about the reviews. They have stars but I'd love to see a few screen caps for each review to compare them while reading it. It looks pretty good. I'll probably pick it up.

I was going to buy this puppy on day one but I happened to catch it on Cable TV over the weekend and...well...um...it just is not what I remember it to be I think I'll wait till a while before I pick this up. Mostly since there will be a lot of titles in the coming weeks that I am thinking of getting and the wallet is getting really light

Well that may be your opinion, but many people here did like this movie. And are glad to hear it was a good transfer.

It may not be an intellectually stimulating movie, but it's a good popcorn flick.
