Default Daft Punk's Electroma coming to Blu-ray

Quote:
Vice Records is planning to release the Daft Punk film 'Electroma' for Blu-ray on July 22nd, day-and-date with the US DVD release. No specs have been announced at this time, but the release has "been specifically mastered for optimal visual and audio fidelity on Blu-ray". The title will come in a special steelbook case packaging and include a 40-page photo booklet which was bound solely for this release.

No extras have been announced at this time. We hope to hear more about this release as the release date approaches.

Daft Punk's Electroma is an odyssey of two robots (played by Peter Hurteau and Michael Reich) who journey across a mythic American landscape of haunting, surreal beauty on a quest to become human.

I have the Japanese DVD. I love, love, love this movie. I'll definitely be pre-ordering this the first chance I get. It's GENIUS!

so, I take it this one is not an exteded music video like 555 was? (judging from some reviews here and there..)

still, sounds interesting. I don't mind slow films.

I do love Daft Punk, so at the very least I'll check this out. Though at this point, I don't really know what it is.

Daft Punk doesn't have any songs in this movie. It's just a movie about both robots, with a soundtrack by other electronic musicians.

Hmmm... no daft punk music...

interesting...

Honestly, since the second album, their stuff has been a bit meh...

I bet they have a good vision for movies though...

Im interested in this for artistic reasons, but from reviews I've read it's kinda mediocre. I think it was a wasted opportunity for them to not put ANY music from their catalog on this movie.

As a side note to anyone interested in DP music, Irreversible was scored by Thomas Bangalter. While the movie is kinda hard to stomach for most, I think the soundtrack is amazing, and it's well worth tracking down even if you never ever watch the film.

And if you haven't seen the film, I wouldn't recommend it unless you're a fan of european shock movies. It's very graphic, very unsettling.

OTOH, I'm all for a BR release of Interstella 5555.

Me too.

It's unfortunate to hear this has no DP music. That kind of...kills my interest. So...what is their involvement in this then? What'd they write it or something?

Hell yes. This will be brilliant. This movie is really minimal, but goes to show how unique Thomas and Guy's style is. Always doing something original and crazy while still keeping the mass public in their pocket. Can't complain.

They wrote and directed it.

As far as them not including their own music I think it fits perfectly with the incredibly lateral attitude of the film. The robots wear Daft Punk jackets even, but there is none of their music. I love that. It's a very sly approach.

This is not so much a Daft Punk movie as it is a movie BY Daft Punk, if that makes any sense.

Be warned though it is very slow and hypnotic. It's also incredibly beautiful and melancholy. I would only recommend it to people who are really into avant-garde type stuff.
