Default 'AC/DC: Live at Donington' – High-Def Digest Review

Just posted Peter's review of 'AC/DC: Live at Donington.' He says this Blu-ray release is a good transfer of difficult source material, but that the picture quality is still not exceptional. However, the title does showcase an audio track that's a first-class, five-star concert recording all the way. This is a must own for any self-respecting AC/DC fan, or anyone who just loves a good, loud rock concert in high-def.

I may pick tis one up as well. Love the band. For me, Angus was ''the man'' when I was a kid.

That would be awesome, but if your waiting for just audio the dvd has a PCM track.

AC/DC are Gods, the concert was awesome, and this Blu-ray kicks serious ass. My neighbours rue the day that disc arrived.

Heavily into necrophilia - still enjoying 'dead' HD DVDs.

Being in Switzerland, I'm sure you've heard of those less tuneful noise-merchants, Krokus. Patchy as hell, but damn it if I don't love Let It Go, from their Heart Attack album.

Went to this show, as I did all other Donningtons 88 onwards, and watching this in HD on a big tv in your living room is as close as you will ever be to recreating this show again. It's a stunning HD release, as was the original gig.

As much as I slo-mo the crowd scans, I can't see myself :-)

If you are in the UK, it's a bargain at £12.99 on play.com

Wow. I'm honestly VERY surprised that Peter (especially) and others are giving this title such a good review on video quality. While I agree that the source was likely a real bear to encode, I still expected better. I sold-off this title, but I thought there was an annoying amount of macroblocking on this in the long-shots that had a lot of grain in the source.

Sure, for fans, I'm sure this is tops; certainly if you have an HDMI receiver. But, if I recall, I had watched this on my 37" (before I owned the 52"), and still was disappointed in the video quality.
