Default 'Dan In Real Life' – High-Def Digest Review

Peter's review of 'Dan In Real Life' has been posted. He liked the movie, saying that it's a small, but effective romantic comedy that bucks convention by avoiding melodrama and plot contrivances for cheap effect. This Blu-ray release is perfectly nice, with sharp video, simple but well done audio, and plenty of enjoyable extras.

So Pete thinks this is a better movie than American Gangster to eh.

Hard to read his takes on the actual movie with much more than a half grain of salt after the awful AG write-up. It was borderline racist.

You can't compare the two since they're in different genres. American Gangster was good, but it wasn't amazing. My biggest beef was the length of the movie and the minimal explanation of how they pinpointed Lucas.

ON TOPIC: This movie was funny. Not typical Steve Carrel stuff, but good nonetheless.

Couldn't agree more. It's very much an adult comedy. Can't see too much of the younger crown enjoying it, but very good non the less (I am only 21 and the wife and I enjoyed it very much).

Saw the movie in the theater. I could never get fully connected with the characters or the story. Perhaps it didn't have a strong enough arc.

Emily Blunt was a sight! Wow, what a beautiful woman! Thank God she gained back the weight from her role in Devil Wears Prada. She was way too skinny in that.

I suppose I might have liked this movie more if it wouldn't have stopped halfway through. We had to wait nearly 20 minutes in a silent theater before they started it up again. Then, after starting it again, they went back about 20 minutes. So, we ended up spending about three hours in the theater that day!

This might be a blind buy for me, a big fan of Steve Carrell.

umm... sure? But I would use glossy paper if you have it, since they technically do not want you to have this (i.e. don't want it "reproduced") unless you bought the SD-DVD and got this inside of it. Wal-Mart is the least picky coupon taker, for what it's worth. You'll probably wind up with it for around $15 with the coupon there.

the coupon would make it 14.96 at Wal-Mart.
