Default 'No Reservations' – High-Def Digest Review

Kenneth's review of 'No Reservations' has been posted. He says the movie is disjointed, but still has more to offer than your typical romantic comedy. This Blu-ray features a soft transfer, an underwhelming audio track, and anemic supplements. The movie itself might be worth a look for fans of the genre, but it's better as a rental.

I actually found the movie quite entertaining. I mean nothing that i'd buy...but definitely "worth a look". As for PQ and SQ..well it's a romantic comedy/drama....so not so much SQ, as for PQ...it was alright but not as bad as he made it seem. AS for it suffering identity crisis. I agree it did have a hard time trying to pick between being a romantic comedy or a drama...but it wasn't horrible it was still entertaining to watch. As for the extras I thought they were awesome. Maybe because my interest in culinary arts extends past just watching cooking shows on TV (I've taken some culinary courses..and just decided the field was not for me professionally). ANyway...I thought the attention to detail in the kitchen of how things are in restaurants in this film was quite accurate.

I think I would've enjoyed the supplemental cooking shows a lot more if there were other making of materials on the disc (a commentary, some featurettes, etc). Without additional features, the shows just seemed like promotional afterthoughts.

My wife found the flick to be entertaining (and accurate in the restaraunt kitchen) as well, so all hope's not lost! I appreciate the second opinion -- I'm sure genre fans will find it very helpful as it will put my opinion of the movie itself in perspective. Thanks as always for posting!

I think I enjoyed the supplementals quite a bit cus after watching the movie..i wanted to learn those recipes ...so it worked out quite well..although I do wish they put them in HD as well. My girl liked the movie as well. Anyway you're welcome.

I actually liked it, I haven't seen the BD version yet. I'll buy it once its lowered from $30.

The PQ is mediocre on the title, which is surprising as the HD trailer I had looked better than the actual disc during those scenes.

Disappointing BD, both Technical and Extras! I didn't spend a cent on it (as well as Across the Universe) so I'm not too upset.

As for the Movie, I enjoyed it and my little brother wanted to check it out (he's a Line Cook/Chef).

I rented the DVD from Blockbuster and watched it with my wife, honestly.

It has both the full and widescreen versions of the film on DVD (single side).

One word for the PQ. GARBAGE. I've never seen such a horrible low quality encode ever on a A-list movie (I watched the widescreen version). There's huge amounts of noise and artifacts from the low compression. I checked - it's only 2.7GB for the 16:9 file. But no doubt, the pq is good as you see on YouTube. Very disappointing about the pq, but the film is entertaining nonetheless.

This was a great movie...

...when it was the foreign film called "Mostly Martha" from 2002, that is. Not sure why Hollywood felt it necessary to remake a good, barely 5 year old German film into a newer, crappy American one, but whatever...

I can't post the link being such a newbie, but you can read about it on rottentomatoes... 91% fresh as opposed to 39% for the remake.
