Default 'Holiday' - High-Def Digest Review

Peter's review of 'Holiday' (starring Cameron Diaz and Kate Winslet) is up. A fluffy but effective romantic comedy, this one isn't likely to be your next rock-em-sock-em high-def demo disc, but who among us expected it to be? According to Peter, the video transfer has its colorful moments, but is mostly muted. The soundtrack, meanwhile, boasts a subtle ambiance appropriate to the genre. If nothing else, this one should make a good date night movie ...

I have it. I bought it for $20 tax already included. It's not one of my most favorite films, but it is touching and a little sad at times if you're lonely.

Bought it for My fiance

Its what I would call a grower, the more you watch it the more you like it, Jack Black is the best thing about it though, who can really feel sorry for Cameron Diaz and Jude Law, but hey its only a film, I have to do what I can to bring my mrs into this HD obsession, hence the reason we have The Lake house and Devil wears prada

I just love how sharp HD films are, makes watching normal TV/DVD's suck!

Default playback on a computer okay?

I've had great luck with most Blu Ray discs I've tried to play back on my HTPC (eg, Black Hawk Down, which should be a tough one!) but for some reason The Holiday played okay during the opening promos -- but stuttered like nobody's business during the film. Anyone else get this to play with PowerDVD 7.3 ultra?

I thought this movie was really good. I don't know why it got such bad marks in the PQ department. I thought it looked amazing for the type of film that it is. Probably as good as it looked in the theater anyway.
