'Alvin and the Chipmunks' -- pre-release buzz
Fox has announced the surprise $200 million-grossing smash for Blu-ray:
http://bluray.highdefdigest.com/alvi...munks2007.html
Specs include 1080p/AVC MPEG-4 video and DTS-HD Lossless Master Audio 5.1 Surrounds.
Extras on both the Blu-ray and the day-and-date DVD are rather slim -- only two featurettes and a Digital Copy of the flick (the DVD also has a extra music video, but that's it).
Street date is $39.98 for the Blu, and street date April 1. -

Eesh, I don't know if I will buy it for that price.
Sounds like I will just wait for the Blu-ray to drop in price, even if the video is pristine and infallible.HD DVD: 115
Blu-ray: 41
DVD: 629
Proud to be Purple, and not giving up hope on HD DVD.

I used to watch The Chipmunks cartoon show when I was a kid, but I have no desire to see this movie. Somehow it made close to $200mil!

There haven't been a lot of kids movies recently. So, if you want to take the kids to the movies...it's Alvin. I'm just glad the Chipmunks beat the stingers off of Seinfeld's Bee Movie.

Damn. This was one movie I hoped that would not see a blu version! My daughter wants it for blu. Just talked about this last night. This movie put me to sleep a couple of times. There is only so much of a 40 year-old man can take of a chipmunk talking in an increasing annoying voice. Maybe. Rather not...but I am a sucker for her baby blues.

You are familar with the chipmunks right? they have allways adjusted the type of music they sing to match what is popular at any given time.
just listen to some of the albums they had in the late 90s and early part of this century.
this movie was way better than it should have been. i loved it, only 2 things botherd me.
first of all was the casting of justin long as alvin, they could have gotten a regular voice actor to do the part and not spent the million they spent on justin long. especially when they dont even have justin longs name on the poster or any of the adverts. there are thousands of other voice actors out here who could have done the part. second was in the scene where the chipmunks are rapping it was kind of disturbing how that blonde hair girl was looking very suggestively at the chipmunks. lol
