So this is actually coming out on Blu-ray? The HD DVD people made it sound like it was only coming out on Hd DVD. They made a really big deal out of it.
So is the the movie any good? -

I just can't get over how much I love that cover art! Not to mention the fact that I don't have to worry about it being a combo with Blu-ray.

I haven't seen this latest adaptation but I have seen the previous two. The original Vincent Price version was fairly faithful to the book, just with the violence and sexual content removed, but it shows it's age (and lack of budget badly). The Chuck Heston 'Omega Man' remake was dreaful and had little to do with the book.
I hear this new Will Smith version also bears little relation to the book. Why can't Hollywood studios just film what is written as closely as possible? The book is brilliant and needs no changes. Does anyone know if the alternate ending in this new version brings it closer to the source? And can it be watched with seamless branching instead of just as an extra from a menu? -

I'm pretty excited for this BD release, out of all the new, non-catalog titles released on the format this will be one of my most anticipated.
