Default 'Young Guns' - High-Def Digest Review

Just posted Peter's review of 'Young Guns' on Blu-ray. While the movie itself may be guilty pleasure, as a Blu-ray release this one's nothing to write home about. The soundtrack is okay (earning 3.5 out of 5 stars), but the sub-standard video transfer and a slim selection of supplements make this a rare "one to avoid."

I still picked it up. I had the old Orion DVD from like 1998. So this has to be an upgrade over that.

Are you really that dumb? Or were you joking and I didn't get it?

I think he is referring to people like me, who don't buy BR discs because the quality is all over the place. "Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're going to get!" (25GB MPEG2, please ).

I own both formats, and only have 1 BR movie in my collection (Gridiron Gang). And I even rented that one first.

This review makes Young Guns sound worse than Stargate, which was one of the worst "HD" movies I have seen in a while.

Please, HD DVD has had their share of 3 star movies. When they only release one movie every few weeks it better be 4 stars...lol

I'd rather have a box of chocolates than one piece of candy. And thanks to trusty reviews I don't have to eat the chocolates I don't like.

Just watched this and you can tell it was transferred from an interlaced source since you can see the vertical lines. If you've seen the first batch of catalog titles from Warner (Lethal Weapon) you'll know what I'm talking about.

Hopefully when they decide to release the second one they will redo the first one.

I have a feeling the 2nd will never see a blu ray release. I don't know though, either blu ray as a format will dominate and become as popular as SD is right now, in which case pretty much every movie will get a blu ray release someday, or it will be overtaken by something else in a few years in which case a lot of movies (like Young Guns 2) will never see the light of day as a BD. I tend to think the latter, unfortunately. Technology advances too rapidly anymore to let something ever dominate like SD has.
