Default 'Suburban Girl' – High-Def Digest Review

Just posted Peter's review of 'Suburban Girl,' a disappointing Sarah Michelle Gellar direct-to-video movie that attempts to combine 'Sex and the City' with 'The Devil Wears Prada.' While the video is promising, and the audio track is a fairly accurate representation of unremarkable source material, he says this is a case of "Bad Flick, Good Disc."

Aren't Sarah Michelle Gellar's fifteen minutes of fame up yet? Sorry 'Buffy' fans, but as outwardly appealing and photogenic as she may be, the girl really can't act. Add to that a string of post-'Buffy' missteps,
As much as I love Angel & Buffy, I never thought Sarah Michelle Gellar was a good actress. Let's fact it, Joss Whedon made Angel & Buffy what they were. His dialogue, plot, comedy, and fight scenes couldnt even be ruined if Paris Hilton played Buffy.

NOTE: I'm not saying Paris Hilton is a better actress than Sarah Michelle Gellar. I'm simply saying Joss Whedon is GOD!

Blu-way: I think you meant to say "you're", but I suppose I shouldn't expect much by such a stupid comment.

As for SMG not a great actress, I have to say I'm a bit surprised by that. I thought she was pretty good in Buffy. I haven't seen her in any feature films, mind you.

Anyone who says Sarah Michelle Gellar isn't a good actress never watched her work in Buffy.

I'm sorry, but if you watch "The Body" and can say that girl can't act, you're eyes are closed and your ears are plugged.

Now, maybe part of that is that Joss and his team were better at pulling a performance out of her than these feature directors she's had to work with (and, let's face it, she isn't exactly playing complex roles in her feature work).

But, Gellar has turned in some amazing performances.

No need to apologize. I think she was pretty good in Buffy, but I've never seen her in anything good outside of that (actually, that pretty much goes for all the actors in that show, with the arguable exception of Willow).

By the by, I think Joss Whedon is definitely a talented writer (especially with funny, snappy dialogue) but at the same time I find him a tad overrated. Not all of the stories he comes up with are great (though they still will have good dialogue) Example: The entire second half of Buffy Season 7, or a couple of his storylines in Astonishing X-Men (The Breakworld- ugh).

im a biased buffy fan but i dont think SMG is all that bad in other things. cruel intentions was good. she has like 3 movies coming out in the theater this year so let's not judge her with some crappy direct to video movies.

not to mention she is still the my #1 hottest celeb in my book.

sometimes these reviews are just strange to me..."bad flick, good disc", is it really a good disc with no hd features and 2.5 stars for audio?
