Default 'The Invasion' – High-Def Digest Review

Just posted Peter's review of 'The Invasion.' He feels the film starts out promisingly, but quickly falls apart when the results of post-production tinkering and reshoots begin showing up on-screen. Still, the Blu-ray release is a nice presentation of the film, with great video and audio, but some lame supplements.

man, what a sad review. Could have been awesome, but failed miserably according to the review. I will rent I suppose. Well, in about 3 weeks that is.

Too bad about the movie itself, at least it has a strong transfer, defiantly worth a rental for me.

I actually didn't find it so bad, it was a great popcorn flick. I watched it late last night and it was great, the PQ and AQ were really amazing.

It really was like watching two different movies. At first it was suspenseful and frightening...then it became a chase movie with zombie like characters. I thought it was good, but I prefer more action even if it was tacked on for no reason other than to entertain. I would rent it first before a purchase though.

I wonder if they'll ever revisit this. The dust would have to settle, but a "Restored Cut" might be possible...if they at least shot the footage.

I was surprised to read that the same director who'd made the excellent Downfall could have made such a bad film - until I found out about studio interference. Shame on Hollywood.

I may blind buy this one. Some of my friends have told me that they thought it was good...no deep thinkers allowed.

Default Preorder Hirschbiegeled!

Personally, I have decided to cancel my Amazon.com preorder on the basis of this review.

If there is ever a Director's Cut showing Hirschbiegel's original intentions for the film, I'll but this version instead.

For now, I'm going to stick with a rental.

I disliked the thought of viewing this movie at first, it is after all the fourth time it's been remade.
But after watching half an hour of it I didn't really mind it. However I wouldn't recommend buying
it but renting it instead.

Also this film would have done better in theaters if Nicole Kidman wasn't in it, she's literally box office poison.

I liked the movie, some things could have been done A LOT better but it's a popcorn flick... Craig and Kidman seem to have some sort of contract with WB, maybe they have to make so many films for the studio before time is up...

God knows... Craig and Kidman were both good in it and was the crazy lady in the original? I can't quite remember

i just watched the SD DVD last night and I enjoyed the movie it was a fun and entertaining movie. I mean it was no Oscar winner but was it ever intended to be I don't think so. Kidman(i am a big fan of hers) and Craig were both good in this. I to though would like to see the original cut of the movie out some day. I will be picking up the Blu-ray some time this week.
