Default 'Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines' – High-Def Digest Review

Peter's review of 'Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines' is up. He's not wild about the film, and he has a warning about this initial Blu-ray release of the movie, but he does admit that its big, loud, and full of the kind of action fans of the series might be craving. 'T3' also has the distinction of being Warner's first Blu-ray title with a PIP track (even if it isn't true Profile 1.1), and it works great. True videophiles may want to hold out for a re-pressed version though, he'll tell you why.

I would say the review is good.

I don't think the movie is good enught to buy again for a full 1080P. I think it is the worst of the series by far. Althugh I do
like the mive as a rainy day and popcorn movie.

I'll probably have to pick this up once they get the issues resolved. I liked the movie for what it was.

Warner used to have both regular and SDH sets of english subtitles. Are there only english SDH subtitles on this?

On later releases such as The Shining and Blade Runner there's only been the SDH option, it would be a shame if Warner dropped the regular english subtitles from their coming BD titles.

I may wait for the 1080p version to be released. I dont agree with some aspects of the review...but I do apperciate the insight.

I'm waiting. With a new Trilogy in the works, an eventual super double dip is likely.

No doubt man, and that's why I waited as well.

seems odd that the review falsely dogs on hd dvd...

last i remember hd dvd can do lossless audio...

also, last I remember, blu-ray warner movies are usually the ones that lack hi-res audio...

maybe i remember wrong...

i love the ending of the movie. I won't spoil it here, but for those who have seen it, i think its beautiful. i actually got goosebumps and teary-eyed the first time i saw it...

i actually liked this terminator alot. I can't say anything bad about the T1 or T2, but whenever i'm in the mood for a terminator movie, i want to see the third one. the first two almost seem like "foreplay" leading up to what we actually get to see in the third movie, so maybe thats it.

When I first read that portion of the review, I thought the same thing. However, going back and rereading it, I think you misunderstood. Peter's review says, "[...]but why deny Blu-ray fans better audio just because the HD DVD wasn't up to snuff?" Note "the HD DVD," referring to this particular HD DVD release, as opposed to HD DVD in general.

Although I still don't like the way the question was framed, I don't believe Peter was taking a jab at HD DVD. Nobody knows why a lossless track wasn't included on either version, except for Warner, of course.

that makes more sense... since he's not a blu-ray snob as far as I've read... lol

but if i have to guess, the reason it doesn't have hi res audio is because they recycled the material from the hd dvd...

I'm not buying the terminator trilogy on Blu-ray until all 3 have high-res audio and AVC or VC-1 codecs. I may let the first one pass though.
