Default 'The Rock' – High-Def Digest Review

Just posted Kenneth's review of 'The Rock.' He loves the movie and says this Blu-ray edition features a remarkable video transfer, booming PCM audio track, and good supplements. If you're a fan, you'll want to pick this one up post haste.

Its a great movie. The PQ/AQ were astounding for an older movie. I bet it made Michael Bay proud!

The PQ on that sucker was drop dead gorgeous. I thought it would be good, but I wasn't expecting anything THAT good.

Wow, the quality of this transfer exceeded my expectations by a good bit
(and I had my hopes moderately high, since it is one of my favorite movies.)

The Rock is one of my favorite films from the "just sit back and enjoy the ride; no thinking allowed" action genre. I traded my Criterion DVD for the blu-ray and wow...what an upgrade. In high def, The Rock is a real fun ride.

One of my favorite movies of all time. I already picked this one up, I can't wait to get my Panasonic so I can watch it!

Great disc. The PQ is a bit weaker at the beggining (there's some quick print damage too) but after the first 10 minutes things really clean up and look great. On par with most recent releases other then a couple of minor issues.

The Rock is Bay's best movie. Period.

Sean Connery = Grunge. Haha.

I don't quite see how you can cherrish the memory of the dead by killing another million. This is not combat, it's an act of lunacy, General Sir. Personally, I think you're a fucking idiot.

Your "best"! Losers always whine about their best. Winners go home and fuck the prom queen.
One of the best action movies period

I was off by .25, on the other thread I said the A/V was 4.25/5.

One of my favorite Cage movies.

I'm extremely impressed with this release, it looks and sound amazing. I picked it up $16.99 used this afternoon, for that price you can't go wrong. I also picked up the Simpsons BD (looks great) for $14.99 and the HD DVD of The Aviator for $14.99 and got the HD DVD of An American Werewolf in London for free. I haven't popped in the Aviator or Werewolf yet, maybe after I finish The Rock here in about a 1/2 hour I will.

This might sound a bit nitpicky, but Hans Zimmer didn't write the score. Nick Glennie-Smith did. While Zimmer is credited, he fully admits he didn't want credit as he only wrote two themes for the movie.

Is it available anywhere in Canada? Can't find it on either Futureshop or BestBuy.ca's system.
