Default 'Resident Evil: Extinction' - High-Def Digest

Just posted Josh Zyber's review of 'Resident Evil: Extinction.' Boasting a solid video transfer, excellent sound and Sony's first-ever picture-in-picture video commentary, this one earns a solid recommend.

Good review of the film and the transfer. I would have given the Pq a 4 and not a 3.5 stars but thats just my opinion. I also liked the third movie the best of all three. Still like stated in the review its a solid release.

I'm sad that my BD-P1400 decided to crap out on me and will be out for repaires with Best Buy for at least two weeks (up to a month though ). Oh well, at least with the service plan I'm not completely screwed into having to buy a new player, there's something to be said for that.

Anyway, I'm a huge fan of the RE movies, and these are definently ones I want to pick up. I have the first one (have yet to see it all the way through thanks to BD-P1400 dropping out the picture). Over all the transfer on the first was excellent.

The larger your screen, the more that the lack of detail becomes distracting.

3.5 is a respectable score. If every movie were given a 4.5 or 5, the scale would quickly become meaningless.

the problem is that it shouldn't have been given that low of a score. it was no means a fifth element or shoot'em up in PQ but still a very clean and sharp transfer.

As I said, the larger your screen, the more that the lack of detail becomes distracting. The first movie has a sharper and more detailed picture than either of the sequels.

My review of the first movie will be up soon. I gave that one a 4.

The first resident evil movie was the best, the other two are decent. They are making a new Resident Evil movie that will entirely be done using CGI

The CGI movie is called Resident Evil: Degeneration which is of course bank rolled by Sony so the blu-ray should be exceptional considering it's a all CGI film.

I'd only ever buy this trilogy if it went on deep discount for $9.99 for each of them.
