Completely agree with his assessment. Lost sets the bar for how good TV shows can look in HD. Heroes needs to get its act together video-wise to compete.

Default Could i skip season 2?

Since i really can't stand watching anything in sd anymore and i have only seen season one, would it be horrible skip 2 and just jump right into 3. Or is that sacriligous, is season 2 or 3 better?

Season 2 is definitely better than Season 3 imo, but they are both good. Watch season 2 then season 3, it will make it that much worth it.

Josh,

Did you notice any difference in the PQ between the last disk (#5) and the first 4?

[edit] nevermind, I think I was just too tired by time I finished the last disk.

Season two is widely considered as the worst of the three, I liked the first and third more than the second season!

What? since when? i always thought season 3 was the worst. it didnt even get good until it was towards the end.. the majority of the episodes where boring and crap. and dont even get me started on dezmond.. i was able to tollorate him towards the end when the season got good, but his whole Visions thing got on my nerves when he first showed up. i duno... most of season 3 just bugged me, while seasons 1 and 2 kept me entertained and wanting to see more

Yep, this set takes a big fat crap over the HD DVD Heroes and BSG sets, that's for damn sure. Point to the Lost S3 set whenever they say that 30GB is enough, or that new argument, "bitrates don't matter, stop watching your bitrate meter and watch the movie lol".

Spoiler tag maybe, anyways the first part the season may have dragged on a bit, but the last part, specifically the season finale was simply amazing. I would already have this set if had not been released in the UK yet and I cant find any planned release date either

Well as always it is up to each and one of us to decide what we like and what we don't, but if you look at www.tv.com you will see that most of us liked the third season (9.132) over the second (9.081) as it scored overall higher.

Who cares, this series is the best thing on TV right now and I hope that they don't screw up the upcoming seasons!

Yes, Lost looks wonderful but what was wrong with Heroes exactly? Okay, I will grant that Lost is sharper but I'm not about to pin the problem on 30GB not being substantial enough (they spread Heroes across more discs for Pete's sake).

And yes, thanks to the finale, I have to give precedence over season 3 to 2 (though both had some pretty bombastic finales!).

This is not a show where you can skip episodes (much less an entire season) and expect to have any idea what's going on.

The difference in picture quality between these shows has little to nothing to do with bit rate. Lost has the best-looking photography on primetime TV and by far the prettiest locations to shoot in. BSG is dark and grainy by design. Heroes is overly processed with DNR, edge enhancement, and digital recoloring in post-production. All three of these shows look better in High-Def Media than they do on broadcast.
