Default 'Marine' - High-Def Digest Review

The WWE goes high-def with this week's Blu-ray release of 'Marine.' According to Peter, both the film itself and its Blu-ray transfer are pretty atrocious, but it does boast a knock-the-shoes-off-your feet soundtrack...

Is it the transfer that's atrocious or is it the source that's done this way with the post-processing? If this is how it was intended to look, it doesn't make sense to say that transfer is atrocious. If it's accurately reflecting what the original presentation was, that's one thing. But it's not part of the actual video quality in terms of the transfer.

Does this Blu-Ray include the unrated version that was released on SD last month?

I agree with the movie part of the review. I cant comment on anything else as I havent picked this up on Blu Ray, yet. This movie is exactly what youre expecting...and, Im not so sure thats a bad thing...its actually a pretty fun ride. My biggest complaint is the overuse of action movie cliches. You know that scene in every action movie...where it goes into slow motion, and your hero is running away from a building about to blow up? Then, it blows up, and as theyre jumping the fire and such blows over their head? Well...this movie is so fond of that sequence...John Cena escaped from 3 exploding buildings...and one exploding car (If I remember correctly.) Even with that, youve gotta at least give this movie a rent, that is, if you enjoy action flicks.

WWE Studios is working on "The Marine 2". The original film starred John Cena and is WWE's highest seller to date. The next installment will not feature Cena.

On a related note, John Cena will star in "12 Rounds", which is scheduled to release on March 12, 2009. Cena will play a New Orleans police detective whose girlfriend is kidnapped.
im suprised wwe is even staying in the film business every film has been terrible for the most part except the rock films they co produced on, and the condemned which i thought was at least average

During yesterday's quarterly conference call, WWE said the much anticipated sequel to The Marine, The Marine 2, will be released early next year. As expected, the movie starring RAW Superstar Ted DiBiase, Jr. will be a straight-to-DVD release.

I enjoyed the original The Marine (as a rental only) - it's one of those movies that are so bad they're more funny than many comedies.

Using every manner of transportation, weapon and explosive device available in the jungles of South Carolina, our hero will decimate half of the state to rescue his beloved bride. You can take the soldier out of the war, but you can't take the war out of the soldier.

So who would make a movie like this -- in the year 2006!?
Wow, strangely enough, that sounds just like Taken, except replace "jungles of South Carolina" with "streets of France" and "bride" with "daughter". However, I think the major difference here is that while Taken could easily have ended up just as bad, Liam Neeson really saved the day.
