Just posted Josh's latest import review, for the Hong Kong Blu-ray release of 'Flash Point.' Although he found the film itself less satisfying than he'd hoped, he says this one's quite strong as a Blu-ray release, earning a set of four-star ratings for both video and audio.

Looking forward to this one. I have the Infernal Affairs import and it looked great. Hope they bring more Hong Kong imports in the future. Would like to see the rest of the IA trilogy in hi-def.

Looks like a correctly created disc to me
This is what i mean by PCM as a main audio track and DTS-HD Master Audio as a 2nd track. They have done it on a Single layer 25GB disc using AVC/MPEG4, why cant Fox and New Line do it on a Dual Layer 50GB disc??? |

Although this movie blows, I hope we see more HK films on Blu Ray.

Comedy? I obviously missed that aspect, but I don't speak Cantonese, so I must have lost the "flavor" in the film's subs.

As far as a HD release of a martial arts film, this is the best available, so far. The minimal use of wires is fantastic and as much as I personally enjoy Li's work FEARLESS is not his high water mark.

Does anyone know if FLASH POINT is region locked?
I really need this for my UK PS3! |

The packaging only shows a Region A logo on it. Unfortunately, I don't have a Blu-ray drive in my computer yet to verify how the disc is actually encoded.

I will be grateful if someone tested it on a region B player and see if it is region locked...

I watched the SD DVD version of Flash point and like Josh said this film was beautifully made. I liked the visual style. Besides all those issues about compression on most of the SD DVD discs the film looked very good upconverted by my HD DVD.
The review was dead on. Don't expect a super-plot here, storylinewide the movie suffered a lot but the few action scenes are so well elaborated that it makes you forget about the rest. After you finished the movie go back to Josh's review of the film and you will give him credit for his good job. I found the Cantonese DTS soundtrack the way to go, however it lacked that rear action I'm used to like in Martial Art movies (IMO). The surround speakers were quiet, only a few here and there from time to time but once the action scenes kicks in everything changed. The Low frequencies are all over the place. The sub was shaking like never before. I can't wait for the BD edition of Flash point. ![]() Josh you did a superb job in this review. A+
