Default 'Shakira: Oral Fixation Tour' - High-Def Digest review

Peter's review of 'Shakira: Oral Fixation Tour' is up. He says this Blu-ray disc is a great document of the show, boasting top-tier video and audio, and some nifty supplements, too.

Ricky Martin often seem desperate in their tongue-wagging quest for world domination, Shakira is the real deal.
I don’t agree with that statement about Enrique and Ricky Martin however the review was superb. I am glad that the AQ and PQ were near perfect. Well done Sony.

"The PCM 5.1 track is the way to go, with a presentation that's dynamic enough that they could have changed the name of this disc to 'Aural Fixation.'"

HEY-OHHH!!! *rimshot*

I'm getting this one, although I'm a little discouraged about the music videos being 480p... They really need to stop giving HD discs SD extras...

I don't understand it personally. I would think most artist's under a big studio would have had their video's shot on HD for the last few years.
With Disney and that "Bridge To Terrabithia" movie I still have doubts the music video wasn't shot in HD. I mean I don't get why they're skimping on this stuff. Is it because studios know most people will WANT those video's in HD and maybe charge for a separate music video collection? I have my suspicions.
What with HSM2 on BR I wouldn't be surprised if they release the Hannah Montana concert on BR. If they're smart they will at least. Personally I feel it's unfortunate we may end up only getting some artists songs in Lossless by buying their concert discs.

There's a preivew on the Playstation Netowrk, it's a good 10 minutes or a little less of her tour.

I saw the trailer on PSN. It's amazing how she can run and jump and skip and never miss a note or inflection. Hell, she can run across the loud stadium and never even get feedback even when her mic is pointed at the damn speakers. That's one impressive FOH crew.

What is FOH?

Well, I don't think Shakira is a member of the "Lip-Synchers" club like Britney or Avril. However, considering that this is a video release of a live performance, they probably took the time to clean up the audio and any traces of feedback. But, her running around and bouncing all over the place and not showing anywhere on her vocals, then I'd have to wonder what really went down. Also, I'm aware that some, if not most, concert releases have certain tracks, or instruments and vocals, re-recorded to give them better depth or correct glitches, including feedback and changes in vocals from running around and bouncing all over the place.

Regarding your abbreviations, FOH crew. Is that for "Front of House" crew? The Front of House crew, I think is the proper term, is the team that's in charge of what the audience hears. Then, for those who can afford it, you have your monitor crew which is in charge of what the artist/s hears on their monitors and headphones.

I'm not a big fan of Shakira, but I may have to give this one a rent. Or at least look for that freebie from the PlayStation Network.

I bought this last week on the amazon sale and just watched it now. OMG this disc is amazing!! The PQ is superb and the PCM 5.1 track is stunning. I don't understand Spanish but you don't have to take in this amazing concert in your home theatre.

Good God.

Today I discovered the true reason for Blu-ray, and that reason is Shakira in HD.
