Default 'Cast Away' - High-Def Digest review

Just posted Peter's review of 'Cast Away.' Earning a rare double dose of five star scores for both video and audio, he says this Blu-ray catalog release delivers exceptionally well on the fundamentals, even though it lacks all of the video-based documentary materials from the 2-disc DVD.

Can my PS3 decode this DTS-HD MA, or will it revert to the DD track?

The PS3 will spit out the 1.5 Mb/sec DTS core which should be very good as well but not quite up to MA.

Awesome, this is what I wanted to hear in regards to the PQ/AQ. Will definitely be picking this up.

It was initially 5/5 and now it's 4 1/2 stars for video quality. What's up with that?

Is this movie 1.85:1 or 2.35:1? The back of the Blu-Ray case and the back of the DVD case says 2.35:1, but the Blu-Ray is 1.85:1.

I was surprised at the high marks for video...some early viewers remarked how disappointed they were by it. I'm going with Peter....

Loved this movie, can't wait to rewatch it in 1080p!

Sound sounds awesome - Peter I'm sure is much happier now with the TX-SR905 and being able to listen to the dts-MA tracks properly.

One thing though - this is a 24/48 dts-MA track as the review suggests or a 16/48 dts-MA track as hte specs on the left suggest?

Perhaps that had some influence, as the review has been changed to a four and a half star video rating.

I just realized this as well. Under the audio section, Peter indicates it's a 24-bit track, but the tech specs on the left-hand side of the page indicate a 16-bit track.

At any rate, I look forward to picking this one up. Hopefully, Sony will get around to issuing a firmware update to allow bitstreaming on the PS3 so I can actually enjoy the full MA track. The HDMI 1.3 hardware's already there (seems like laziness to me).

The movie's OAR is 1.85:1. The DVD had a misprint in the specs on the case, which has apparently been carried over to the Blu-ray as well.
