I am a projectionist and I can tell you that 2.35.1 scope films are and always have been set to the 2.35.1 image the director intended. If the movie had looked like it does on the blu ray release during that scene in theatres, you would see framing lines, indicating that the movie was out of frame. OAR is exactly what it is... OAR. The original aspect ratio is the image which the director intended.

Just checked my UK release of this and it has the same framing problem. Anyone know if there will be a recall program for us in the UK?

No offense guys but there are entire threads dedicated to OAR and cropping. If you wish for cropping so badly, e-mail Disney and maybe they will deliver a fresh copy just for you just to make you happy. Or better yet, use your heads and use your TV to adjust the screen to make it fill the screen. I cannot tell you how many times i have watched a movie on my HD cable where it was cropped and peoples faces were cut out because of the camera angle it was set at, it was never intended to be viewed in 16 x 9 (unless of course it was originally filmed that way). People just don't understand that filmmaking is an art. Just as painting, poetry, and music is art. Imagine what it would of been like if Picasso always painted his images in steady, "normal" looking ways. Or if Shakespeare plays never contained any tragedy because people always wanted a "happy ending".
Now if you are one of those who say that you paid a lot for your high def TV and you want to make use out of each and every pixel, then perhaps you should have stuck with a 4 X 3 CRT big screen being that CRT's do not use pixels.
But anyways, back to the situation on hand... do we expect an announcement when the new and improved discs will be hitting store shelves, and will there be anything different with the packaging that will allow us to identify if it is the old or new? Thanks.Mac Fan

Remember the framing issues with "Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl" on Blu-ray? Disney is hard at work making new discs with corrected framing. The studio will exchange your copy of the movie if you have an affected disc. For more details call Disney's tech support number at 1-800-723-4763. -

Now I just wonder how long it's gonna take...
Does it matter that I've never opened my copy due to news of these issues? -

I received mine too. they send it in a flimsy CD envelope packed in a yellow shipping envelope. It could be bent and cracked VERY easy. Props for them exchanging the disc, but cmon, an extra buck to ship it in a sturdy container....
