Default 'Initial D' -- pre-release buzz

Tai Seng has jumped into high-def with their debut title, the manga-inspired 'Initial D':

http://bluray.highdefdigest.com/initiald.html

It's hitting Blu-ray on January 22, 2008.

No supplement details yet, but tech specs include 1080p video and audio in English and original Chinese.

Retail is $34.98.

Are you sure it's coming out on HD-DVD?

Uhh, this is not an anime. It's a live action film with real actors based on a manga. Racing scenes are pretty good and far better than F&F trilogy IMO.

I saw the original DVD version and it wasn't too bad. The main question would be if it is REGION FREE or locked.

Both HK and US are region A, so unless you're from Europe, you should be alright.

I saw this movie and didnt like it to much. Actually I havent seen a Live Action that is as a good as the anime. This and price of tennis wasnt good at all. However if the Anime comes out on Blu-ray I might have to get a player earlier then plan

YESSSS, definitely getting this. And i dont' think we have to worry about region coding, as HDD has put it in their release dates listing. Therefore it should be a US release.

You should watch the death note movies, the live action version is almost EXSACTLY like the anime. they replecated alot of the scenes very well. L was just weird also. and even the death god that follows light around was done very well with CG, it looked like it was just ripped right out of an anime. anyways it was very impressive and i hope it gets released on blu ray also.

this movie was soooo bad. it wasn't faithful to the manga/anime except for the cars. i didn't like the changes at all. ther only good thing about this movie is Anthony Wong's performace. Jay Chou mumbles his way through the whole movie cuz he had to learn Cantonese for this flick...

a big disappointment for me considering how much i love the anime series.

It's a movie based on an anime series. There is nothing documentary-like about it.
