Default 'Open Season' - High-Def Digest Review

Hot damn! A five-star video rating for Open Season. Although according to Peter, that's pretty much all this substandard animated flick has going for it...

Another first? Isn't this the first Blu-ray exclusive to receive 5 stars?

I imagine it's less difficult for CGI animations to achieve top scores than live action movies. Think I'll just get this on DVD instead.

Default avc encoding

It would be nice if reviews included information on what encoder was used to compress the movies. For instance, I think Open Season was done by Technicolor's Tiger encoder which produces AVC streams that are far superior to anyone else's. So this would be good to know if the info is available to the reviewer.

Took my son to see this movie and fell asleep. It just wasn't captivating to me. The voice talent was mediocre. I don't mean to slam the movie...I'm only giving my opionion but I'd rather wait for flicks like Madagascar and Over the Hedge that stand up to repeated viewings.

Bestbuy's Blu-Ray demostration has this movie on it - it actually shown on my TV and looks very awesome. I am curious about one thing - does this have the best A/V output for Blu-Ray or is there more to come. I am curious which movie looks the best. This could be one of the top ones.

I definely planned to get it next week, hopefully at Bestbuy because of Reward Certificates.

I just watched the BD disc last night....

It's not the best animated animal flick to come out over the last year or so (loved Over The Hedge more), but it's a fun flick, nonetheless.

Oh, and hot damn, the picture is stunning.
