Default Fox Sets Date for 'Sunshine' Blu-ray

Quote:
Fox's most technologically-advanced next-gen title ever is touching down on Blu-ray this January.

As we first reported yesterday, Fox announced that it was planning to bring 'Sunshine' to Blu-ray sometime in Q1, featuring the format's first Profile 1.1-ready picture-in-picture commentary and a host of other cutting-edge features. They've now issued full details and a street date for the eagerly-awaited title, which will hit Blu-ray on January 8, 2008, day-and-date with the standard-def DVD.

So how long before the first post in a Blu-ray thread isn't by a bitter HD-DVD troll?

So glad that a movie like this is getting the proper treatment.

Danny Boyle, along with Underworld and John Murphy's music...simply stunning!

Excellent. "Sunshine" and "3:10 To Yuma" on the same day... I can't wait

If you really care about HD DVD, don't get the Xbox 360 add-on and make the same mistake I did

Is Sunshine worth a blind buy? 1/8/08 is getting pretty crowded (The Rock, 3:10 To Yuma) and I don't want to regret spending $28 more.

No. Rent it. Its got some nice special effects and an intriguing story, but the end gets a little odd. I'll wait until it drops way down in price.

So far they haven't delayed their day and date releases, so this one is safe.

I saw on the Big screen and IMO as a HD purchase - yes. A visually stunning movie with great sound effects, mind you I was disappointed with one aspect of the movie therefore not great overall but since Fox's transfers have improved lately e.g. FF2 was not good but great HD experience I would give it a go.

I would put it ahead of The Rock(catalogue) and a tinge behind 3:10 to Yuma on my monthly purchase list.

Can someone explain "Surround Sound Mixer" a little bit more?

It sounds a bit odd to me. Is it going to be like HD-DVD where 1 track is mixed with the second track? or is it going to be a one and only one or the other track when watching PiP?
