Default 'Spider-Man Trilogy' - High-Def Digest review

Peter's review of 'Spider-Man: The High-Definition Trilogy' is up. He says this set certainly delivers on the bottom line, boasting strong video overall and reference-quality audio. The only major disappointment is a complete lack of extras for the first two films in the franchise.

Especially for only $60.99 (BBY this week), I'm gonna pick this up. Then I'm sure I'll sell it a year from now when the feature packed version comes out.

Surprised to see only a 4 star on the video quality though. I figured the first one could seem dated, but still expected Sony to pull out all the stops.

Ah well, still gotta pick it up.

This is DEFINITELY a must buy! I can't wait 'til Tuesday! If you are trying to get this from Fry's Electronics, an employee showed me they ONLY have 24 copies per store. You better get there early, if you don't have it ordered at Amazon.com. I will be there when they open. I'm making sure I get my copy.

^^^

Do you know if the pre-order price of $60.99 will be the price instore also?

I cancelled my Amazon pre-order when I saw that BestBuy was going to have it on sale but if Fry's has it the same price or cheaper I'll go there instead.

A detailed technical review of each disc can be found here:

I agree with the review above, that like many trilogies, the series started well, peaked with the second, and then disapointed with the third.

Wow, I just checked the ads, and this set is $61 at Best Buy vs. $80 at Circuit City! I hope no poor sucker goes to Circuit City and throws away 20 bucks.

One minor nit to pick ('cause that's really all I do)...Sam Raimi didn't chose not to work with Bill Pope on Spider-Man 2. Pope was kinda busy with the Matrix sequels at the time the first Spidey sequel went into production.

For those shopping in Canada, Future Shop is selling the trilogy for $62.99! I fully expected it to be in the $80-90 range, but it looks like FS is figuring out that the dollar being at par means prices should be as well.

The review is about accurate, had my UK version for around 2 weeks now. The video transfer of the first film is noticeably different to the other two, as you would expect being the oldest. There aren't any noticeable artifacts or such but it is a lot more grainier , probably to hide the CGI a little. The third film looks the best, but there are certainly scenes on number two which are demo material.

Glad to see the PQ "issues" with SM1 isn't as bad as another site suggested.

What I understand from the review is the transfer of all the movies are great and loyal to the source, so no problem !
I'll buy this anyway

Already have this shipped from Amazon Prime and on it's way. Should be getting it later today or tomorrow and can't wait. I am sure it's going to be the set to beat this year on Blu.
