Default 'Day After Tomorrow' - High-Def Digest review

Peter's review of 'The Day After Tomorrow' is up. He's says this Blu-ray release is a winner, with the video achieving reference-quality levels and the booming soundtrack hovering just above fantastic. Although he was somewhat disappointed by the slim supplements package, that doesn't stop him from declaring this one a "must-own disc."

Even though I thought the movie was a bit silly, I do like it a lot because of the special effects and the cinematography. I can't wait to get my BD copy.

I thought this was just a so/so transfer-in my opinion the Silver Surfer was much crisper and vivid. The movie itself is great, but I was definately dissapointed with the video quality (not that it was bad). I was just expecting more.

"Whether it be 'War of the Worlds' riveting the country to our radios in the '50s with its tale of alien invasion"

Actually the radio broadcast was in 1938. The movie came out in 1953. I am looking forward to see how this one looks. Thought it was an ok movie.

Default DTS-HD Master Audio????

For the Audio Specs, you guys said this:

English DTS-HD Lossless Master Audio 5.1 Surround (48kHz/24-bit)

How do you know its 24-Bit audio and not 16-Bit? How were you able to verify this information if it is not on the packaging?

Thanks-

If it's 16-bit then it will have a bit rate around 4.6 and if it's 24-bit it will have a bit rate around 6.9. I'm going to assume that standalone blu ray players display this when prompt. I have a ps3 so I only get 1.5 mbs, that's until sony releases a firmware update where ps3 bitstreams the audio format to my DTS HD MA decoding reciever (Onkyo 605).

So much for trusting Peter's reviews anymore. This is the straw that breaks the camel's back for me. This was a ridiculous and unintentionally hilarious film that trivializes a very series issue facing our planet. The effects are pretty but it doesn't even deserve anything over one star.

Lol you have to admit the plot is a bit silly...... They "out run" cold. They survive by burning books.... come on now.

It's still a fun flick.

6.2/10 on imdb
46/100 RT score.

If you're the kind of person that judges it on how it looks and sounds, then I can understand your view. But the content of this film was laughable. There's inexplicably violent CG wolves that conveniently end up on a ship in the middle of NYC in which there is medicine that is needed to save the main character's love interest. Then these wolves attack these people for no reason. That whole scene was hilarious. The entire film is so melodramatic and lame. They outrun AIR! Honestly, I can't see how anyone could take this seriously. It's a non-stop cliche machine.

But you're more than entitled to your opinion, that's just how I felt as I laughed endlessly in the theater at this film with my friends.
