I'm beginning to wonder - after this print of Halloween and the new Dracula - does Blu-ray have something against the color blue? I mean, blue seems like a nice enough color to me. If the DP was OK with it, I think we should allow it in our houses, even if just for 2 hours.

I will stick with the new Halloween for the increased detail and over-saturate it a bit on my monitor, but why should I have to? The blue night scenes were the way the movie was made - that's the way I want to see it at home too.

I saw the film in 1978 and remember it vividly. The night scenes were not that saturated in blue. The print on BD and the print shown on Monsters HD is the best yet to the original presentation.

The cundey approved and supervised transfer was done in 1999 and NOT done in HD. Therefore, since he had NO involvement with this, (supposedly the HD transfer done a few years back that was used for the divimax dvd) the best they could do is try and tweak the new transfer to match the old Cundey one.
In the day scenes, (which on the divimax seem VERY green, and spring-like, not fall-like at all) it seems they got it pretty close to the Cundey approved transfer. On the night scenes in question, they didn't. Many like the way Cundey made certain scenes VERY blue for the older DVD. He WAS the DP, you know.

I prefer the look of the film on the Blu Ray screens way more than the other ones.

This is a must BUY!

I'am not J6P and i prefer the lighter look. I don't understand that MOON thing, last night i was outside Full Moon and it wasn't Blue anywhere. I guess it can add to the mood for certain people, but either way it don't bother me Cundey Approuved or not..

I agree...looking at the screen shots even more now, makes me like the Blu Ray version look much better. It looks more REAL and the detail enhancements due to the cleaner picture look GREAT!!

More people agree, or do you like that bluish tint over everything?

I understand that the shot to shot comparisons to the DVDs of Dracula and Halloween look different, but why is the Blu-ray WRONG because it's different? Especially in the case of the Dracula disc, it seems the print was supervised extensively by Coppolla himself. Maybe these versions are closer to their intent than ever before.

Why do you think the BD version has color timing issues? I think it actually looks better. Are you saying it "should" look like that bluish tinge? I think the BD looks a lot better because it doesn't have that bluish background.

I don't care much for the blue tint myself. I like the way the blu-ray colors look. Plus, all blu-ray reviews so far are saying that Halloween has never looked better!!!!! I can't wait to get it!!!!!

So Dracula was knocked down because it was supervised by Coppola and Halloween was knocked down because it wasn't? We can use some consistency here.
