Default 'The Replacement Killers' - High-Def Digest review

Peter's review of 'The Replacement Killers' is up. Although he's not a huge fan of the film itself, he says this Blu-ray edition delivers on the bottom line with strong video and audio that offer a clear upgrade over previous DVD editions.

I think the reviewer as a tad hand on the film. SUre, it's crap, but it's fun, mindless crap. I think I'll get this weekend

Good news on the picture, I love this movie. When I worked at Movie Gallery I watched this once a week along with Underworld 1+2, Collateral, and Serenity.

This was a fairly well written review. Personally, I would have given the film 3 stars instead of 2, but I can see why some people would not enjoy this movie.

Also, I'm still not that impressed with the PQ on this disc. There were a couple scenes that really stood out, but I'm hard pressed to give it a four. I'd probably go with about a 3.5 for the PQ.

Picked it up for free today (had 20 dollar reward zone certificate) since it was 19.99 at BB, picked up kengo legend of the 9 as well. had to -_-V

Overall its a good movie. Its just one of those "dont focus on the plot cuz there isn't one" movies. Much like Stranglehold.

I dont think it needed THAT low of a review.. its a 19.99 blu ray.. can't go wrong. The pic looks average..

Just watched this tonight and have to say I really enjoy the action stylings of John Woo. Very different and fresh. It makes me want to check out Hard Boiled(BTW, does anyone know how the PQ is on the Stranglehold CE edition?)
Although this one of those movies that you want to put all your thinking in the back of your head and just go along with the ride,, its very enjoyable. And nothing can beat those standoffs. The PQ was sharp and the AQ sported a bang. Overall a good rental for any action lover.

Movie: 3/5
PQ: 4/5
AQ: 4/5
Overall: 4/5

The Replacement Killers is NOT a "good" movie, but it can still be pretty fun to watch at times. If you like John Woo style movies, I would say that this is far from his best work. However, you really can't go wrong if you find it for $10 or less...

It's not directed by John Woo. It's directed by Antoine Fuqua, who also helmed Training Day, King Arthur, Tears of the Sun and Shooter. The film's action style is very similar to Woo, in his Hong-Kong shoot-em-up days, and has good performances from Chow and Mira Sorvino. It's a fairly decent action movie with great over-the-top gun fights.

I actually checked this one out tonight, its not bad and I liked it. It has that John Woo flavor to it, which I love his movies. I wish some of the Dragon Dynasty titles would come to Blu like Hard Boiled and A Better Tomorrow.
