Default 'Remember the Titans' - High-Def Digest review

Just posted Peter's review of 'Remember the Titans.' Although the found the film itself unoriginal, he says this Blu-ray release is quite strong, boasting a five-star video presentation, and an almost equally as strong soundtrack. Top it off with a solid assortment of extras, and if you're at all a fan of 'Remember the Titans,' this one earns an easy recommend.

No arguments here in BD, I completely agree! But 2.5 on the Movie, no. I give this 4.5 and one of Denzel Washington's best work.

I dunno - sounds like Peter is not a big football fan. I love football, and this is my favorite football movie. For what it's worth, Imdb user give it 7.4/10 & Rotten Tomato 72%. I have this on pre-order, good to hear it's the 5 star presentation I was counting on Disney to give us.

In general, a very good review. I do have to strongly disagree with the movie score, though. Perhaps it's because the movie hit when I was a young teenager, but the emotions really struck a chord with me, and while I wasn't sobbing, there certainly were a few tears welling up in my eyes during the lead-up to the big game. I felt that it was well-written, well-acted, and overall a great story.

Also, I don't think it's fair to call it another in a long line of inspirational sports movies, since it was one of the first such films in recent years. Just because Glory Road and Invincible came out earlier than RtT on high-def doesn't mean you should judge it by its "late" arrival.

I love football as well. Especially college ball. This movie was good, but I would take Any Given Sunday in hd over this one. Friday Night Lights is up there as well. Still, great to see this movie got an awesome review. May pick this one up.

I don't really care for sports flicks.
Sorry, unless boxing counts.
Then I LOVE Rocky.
And even the freakin' sequels, which Rocky Balboa holds as the best sequel.
And as one dude said, Any Given Sunday kicks-ass.

2.5 seemed pretty low too.. at least a 3 -_-V

I Saw it and was tempted.. but I just got IASIP and Kiss Kiss Bang Bang today.

Will purchase this a bit later, maybe when it drops to 24.99 or it gets some sort of combo deal.

I agree..only a 2.5 star rating?! I really don't understand why he gives low ratings to such good movies and bad movies good ratings?! For instance, he gave The Descent 3.5 star rating, and Backdraft a 1.5 star rating?? The Descent = bad movie and Backdraft = Great movie.

I agree 100 percent! It seems like hes always giving the classic movies a terrible score and some new junk movies a great score. How do you give a movie like blades of glory a higher score than Backdraft or Remember the Titans.

Is it just me or are these recent Blu-ray releases kicking it up a notch in terms of PQ and AQ? HD DVD needs to keep it up otherwise I'll seriously consider going neutral.
