A great announcement!
I believe there's a slight error in the article:
IIRC, Criterion didn't actually produce a laserdisc of this one, though they do currently offer a DVD version. Criterion did do a laserdisc of Monty Python and the Holy Grail, the supplements from which eventually made their way to Columbia's DVD special editions.'Life of Brian' has been released in many past incarnations on disc, most notably a Criterion Collection laserdisc as well as a previous Collector's Edition from Sony on standard-def DVD. -

Well, this is actually my very favorite Monty Python movie (though the "Holy Grail" is a close second), so I will indubitably be getting it

Somehow I dont see Sony restoring it. If one of the main special features is an audio track. Again this is one people keep buying so Sony just keep re-packaging it.

Ah, thanks for the info. I'm glad I qualified my statement with "IIRC."
I believe I do remember it now; checking Criterion's site, I see it was produced about the same time (judging by spine #) as their disc of Time Bandits, which I certainly remembered. Bizarre I'd forget... though in my defense I'm sure the current DVD is still vastly better-known and a better candidate for mentioning in the news item than the laserdisc.

Life of Brian is my fav Python movie. I will certainly pick this up when it's released.

I doubt it'll be importable. Meaning of Life was the first movie they did outside of Columbia Studios. Columbia produced And Now For Something Completely Different for them and made a ton of cash off of it at the time. They parted ways after Life of Brian, IIRC, due to the controversy.
Where's Holy Grail? I figured that one would be first, seeing as how it's more widely known. It was trotted out 4 times in SD.
I was worried I'd wait forever for this one, since I sold off my Criterion version a few months back.141
