"Caligula" Coming To Blu-Ray!!
Wow! The classic Caligula is apparently set to come to Blu-Ray! If you have never heard of this movie, it's one of those moldy old titles that most people on here could care less about.

Thanks for the info and link. I'm not sure I believe it though. I mean, do you really think that Image Entertainment would jump into Blu-ray with Caligula as their first title?! I personally think that would be a huge gamble. The timing of this rumor is suspect too, with the recent announcement of the awesome-looking 4-disc Imperial Edition DVD on the horizon. In any case, I hope to hear something definitive from Image before October when the 4-disc set is out, because I'm interested!

I saw the X rated version a the theater when it came out. I wouldn't call it porn. It certainly has a lot of X rated material, but it does attempt to try to tell a story - a story about the excesses of the Roman Empire elite.
But, I've walked out on two movies in the cinema in my life:
- Forrest Gump, for being way too long and way too boring
- Caligua, for being way too gross & demented. The wedding night of the soldier did it for me.
I'll pass on this even as a rental.

I want more definitive news for this favorite before getting all riled up.
I love Caligula and already own the unrated version, in the purple case. If this turns out to be true, I'll really be excited because the SD DVD is in need of a serious upgrade.M. Enois Duarte

Movies are so rarely great art that if we cannot appreciate great trash.
we have very little reason to be interested in them.

I support cinema in general. Like I've stated on here often my reasons for getting HD-DVD initially were determined be many factors and one was certainly price and a finished spec. I've been patiently waiting for a Blu-Ray player that supported all the audio codecs that was not overpriced. and uhhhhhhh Im still waiting. When that day arrives I will be officially neutral.

What purple case? My unrated copy is in a blue case, and there is an R-rated copy in a maroon-ish case available.

I think they are calling the "purple" case "blue". I looked on DVdaficionado and they show only 2 versions of a 20th anniversary version. The unrated one looks purple in color to me also.
