I saw this on Netflix when I was in Montreal a few years back. It's a good watch, very low budget b/w with a narrative that jumps about through time, but is only about an hour long - it's a very short film. Well worth a watch but $30 is a lot for it.

Yes but you get some good supplements. It's not like a Twilight Time release LOL.

My concern is this film I think was shot on 16mm film, so I question how good the transfer will be. Being Criterion I know they will do the best possible job with the film as they can.

Steve Zissou: Anne-Marie, do all the interns get Glocks?
Anne-Marie Sakowitz: No, they all share one.

I'm guessing that December 11th is also when the Nolan Batman trilogy is released.

Criterion! I wasn't expecting this. I wonder if the commentary will be a new one. Interesting that they added a 5.1 mix too. I didn't see the chronological version listed in the special features, I wonder why that wouldn't be included?

Everything about the film still holds up today except for the acting, in my opinion. After you've seen it a couple times and you aren't focusing on the narrative structure and the directing, the acting really seems poor. Still a very cool movie though, I've been wanting to see it on Blu-ray for a while, the DVD makes the grain look big and blocky.
    RIP Kosty you are missed.
