"Housed in a rather flimsy sleeve (mine arrived slightly bruised) are two fold-out "books" that are really just disc receptacles."
DAMN IT
Studios need a slap.
Speaking of Marilyn, I watched All About Eve Sat night. My my my, a young Marilyn looked incredible in that movie and played the ditzy/dumb blond well LOL -

Based on packaging then, grabbing the titles at walmart for $9.88 each might have been a better choice?

I'm waiting on a sale to get this. No way it's going to stay above $70 every day thru Xmas. Under $50 is my sweet spot.

I picked this up on sale from Amazon for less than $25, and while the packaging may be lacking, it's nice to have so many movies in such a slim profile. I'm watching some of the discs now and holy cow are the transfers on these absolutely gorgeous! I've seen How To Marry A Millionaire on film (not during its original release, mind you), and this is the best I've seen it look since then. Gotta give Fox props for this one.

This set has caught a lot of flak for its packaging, so much so that people overlook just how good the transfers are. Besides, I think the packaging may be a blessing in disguise, since its slim profile and design is helping to throttle sales and bring the price down sooner than otherwise would have happened. At least for those who actually bought it for the discs.

put this in a fatter BD case, similar but obviously smaller than the one used for the repackaged mel brooks set, and i'd be game for any price under 30. but, man oh man, the packaging. this, the Omen set, and the Portlandia sets are by far the worst in format.

Hoping to get a new cult for Christmas. Already tired of playing with the last one. -

The packaging is far from ideal, but given that Blu-rays are pretty scratch resistant in the first place, I don't think it's so bad that people should skip this set. I mean, for less than $25 I got seven movies with absolutely incredible picture quality. I'm watching Gentlemen Prefer Blondes right now, another movie I've seen on film, and the Blu-ray actually looks better than the print I saw. If you're a Marilyn Monroe fan, this is a total no-brainer. And given the overall quality of the films in the set, you don't even have to be the biggest Monroe fan to find this worthwhile.

Packaging
I have no idea about the infatuation with the packaging. Well I do have some idea. As a collector of various things, the package can be important. But to the exclusion of a great set of Blu-rays? I'm not *that* anal. I mean, after all, I do buy them to watch on the screen, not on the shelf.
