the begining was slow and just sucked, but once the aliens arrived, honestly to me the movie was awesome. really didnt expect it to be good at all. Especially on bluray, demo worthy for sure.

I gave it a lot of props for being dumb summer popcorn fun, and points for being willing to show us the aliens pretty early on compared to most.
on a thumbs up, thumbs down scale I gave it thumbs up. -

Wow, this scored higher (movie rating) than Battle: Los Angeles? WTF did you watch? I agree that this was dumb fun, pure popcorn but it wasn't as good as BLA (and BLA wasn't great either). Only worth seeing in a theater (strictly matinee) or with a nice HT system.

finally saw the movie. After all the reviews I knew I would enjoy it. Just stupid fun. And The Blu Ray way just excellent, great picture and rumbling sound.. a must buy for people that like fun movies

I really liked how the aliens were actually trying to limit human casualties during the invasion, only targeting anything aggressive (except for, um... a freeway?). It added a bit of an Operation Iraqi Freedom analogous veneer to it, even if it was only surface level and didn't really hold up.
Other than that it was utter shit, and I'm genuinely annoyed this movie even exists in the first place. And the fact that John Carter got such vehement negative press for being a bomb domestically, yet Battleship's even lower take was ignored in every sense, is goddamn infuriating.
Fuck this movie. -

That is hilarious!!! Hey I'm in for HHH. Woo Hoo. Hahaha
Well watched Battleship on Sat and I rather enjoyed it. Of course expectations were pretty low so I ignored all the cheesy build up and waited for the aliens arrival. Once the action started I was very entertained, pure dumb fun. PQ and AQ were awesome. Room shaking explosions and gunfire, gotta love it.
I see or hear rather what the reviewer meant with the low bass. The soundtrack kicks ass no doubt but yeah woudv'e been nice to have a little super low thunder mixed in. This will be a HT demo disc for sure -

The Blu-ray is demoworthy, but the film is GARBAGE.

With all of the horrible reviews and bad word of mouth I went into this expecting the worst but came out LOVING it maybe because of the exact same reasons.
It was just pure mindless fun which is all I expect of a movie like this. It was based on a BOARD game after all. What else could be expected from it? Even Rihanna's HORRIBLE acting didn't ruin it for me but I could see where it could have. She is terrible!!! Plus the video/audio is downright beautiful looking/sounding.

So am an audio junkie, particularly for nice low bass as well but unfortunately can't comment on the sound for this one much at all since I spent most of the time watching it using the PS3's 1.5 forward function, only stopping to play it at normal speed on occasion when Brooklyn Decker showed up onscreen. LOL, this movie was horrible, imho.

I don't get the bashing of this movie. I've seen a lot more terrible summer blockbusters. It's got: stuff blowing up, funny/cheesy references to the board game, Brooklyn Decker, awesome war veterans having fun and well, it's just dumb fun! It's in there with Terminator 3 in the "enjoyable stupid action movie" dept.
