    an uncompressed monaural soundtrack?

    is that it?

hmm..great flick..one I would spring for the Criterion even sans a sale...but mono seems like a slight.

Criterion almost always presents the sound in the original format--be it mono, stereo, surround--unless someone involved in the production signs off on a remix. Polanski approved the new high def transfer so I assume he wanted the film kept as the original mono.

Anne-Marie Sakowitz: No, they all share one.

I'll definitely be picking this up at the December B&N sale. Disappointing slate of extras, but props on getting the color and perspective from the original one-sheet correct for the cover art.
