i think this is a really neat situation, and hopefully it spawns many of its ilk/brethren, but i would only buy it on a lark, a "ah, what the hell, why not" mood, and the MSRP absolutely KILLS that possibility. set will end up being 200-250 on release day.

Hoping to get a new cult for Christmas. Already tired of playing with the last one. -

Yeah, it's an encouraging sign. Gives me hope that they'll release Columbo or Alfred Hitchcock Presents. I would very interested in complete series of those as I know I'd watch them several times over. Columbo has been already released in Japan but it's waay too pricey so I think that one will make it here someday.

i thought i saw the columbo set on ebay or amazon for 300. considering japanese import and size of set, that wasn't that bad at all.

Dolby Digital? I hope that's a misprint.

I would have bit for that price. Surely it didn't last long because now it's $600.00 used on ebay and $1,200.00 new on Amazon. Will just have to wait and hope it comes out here.
I never got into Dick Van Dyke, the only appeal it has for me is a young Mary Tyler Moore. Would like to check out how much better it looks on Blu-ray than it does on DVD though. -

I loved this show as a kid. I wouldn't mind owning it (especially with those special features), but it'll definitely have to wait till a year or two after release when the price gets down to reasonable territory.

Wondering if amazon.co.uk will carry it. If its more than $150, I'll wait for a lightning deal. As much as I like this show, and while a little over $2 an episode seems to be the norm for TV shows on Blu-Ray, I just can't sink that much at once into a Blu-Ray set. So either I will have to wait for a huge sale, or wait for them to break up this set.

$315 for a 15 disc set?! They aren't going to sell many of those at that price.

I'll be getting this day 1, assuming there's a good sale! I just bought the complete series on DVD a few months ago as Amazon deal of the day. I've still been just using Netflix to watch episodes though. Regardless of the fact that I've seen every episode of this show at least 10 times, some 30 or more I'm sure, I never get tired of this show. There are enough episodes that after I watch one, by the time I watch the rest, it has been long enough and I'm ready for that first one again. I'm 33 and discovered this on Nick at Nite, and it has become my most-watched show. Perhaps not my absolute favorite, but it is up there. It is however easier to watch over and over than shows I might rate slightly higher. Just don't make me watch the episode "Alan Brady Presents", as it is just a Christmas special with lots of sappy singing and solemn moments, and very little comedy. Always skip that one.
I also hope this spawns other such series. I'd love to see Hogan's Heroes, Get Smart, Leave it to Beaver, McHale's Navy, and The Phil Silvers Show on Blu. Hell I'd love to see The Phil Silvers aside from Season 1 on DVD even. Season 1 came out a couple of years ago now, and no sign of the rest! Any classic TV shot on film would be nice to have on Blu.Last edited by Hastor; 09-21-2012 at 07:00 PM.
