Great news. This one will nearly destroy my subwoofers, I'm sure.

I'm throwing a Raid viewing party at my place. It was outrageous in the theater, so looking forward to watching it with folks who missed out.

I pre-ordered this yesterday, about two seconds after I saw it was coming out. One month earlier than the Swedish/Nordic release is nice.

Oh yeah, and Day One purchase on this bad boy. The best action movie I've seen in at least the past 2 years.
I don't care what the white mon say, Santa Clause was a black mon.

I really freaking wish that they'd axe the stupid 'Redemption' subtitle. It makes absolutely no sense. Just 'The Raid'. Simple, easy, and it makes sense.

As I'm sure you know, it was originally just titled The Raid.
But when they decided to make sequels, they wanted something to set it apart from the future The Raid: Whatever movies.
edit: well that's what I originally heard anyway, but a quick google search reveals the title of the sequel to be Berandal. Not even The Raid: Berandal.
So I guess you're right, Redemption is pointless. -

I know. I saw it at Sundance when it was still just 'The Raid'. I just don't get why numbers aren't good enough to distinguish sequels anymore. 'The Raid', 'The Raid 2', and so on. Easy-peasy. I really hate the add-on of 'Redemption' since it implies there is redemption to be had, when there's really none at all. If they wanted to be truthful about the contents they would've called it 'The Raid: Carnage'

Then that was probably your mention of it months ago that caught my attention and made me go see it. I read all that you wrote here about Sundance, it was great stuff. I just sometimes forget which writers write what, aside from the HD Advisor column that Josh used to write.

I can only imagine it would've been the bomb to see The Raid at Sundance. To have no idea what you're even walking into then to leave going, "Holy S**t!!! What did I just watch??!!!"
I gotta go to Sundance. It's on the bucket list.I don't care what the white mon say, Santa Clause was a black mon.

I saw this in L.A. that first weekend it opened at the Hollywood Arclight; and it was a near-sold-out show, and right after one of the most intense fights I think we'd ever witnessed, a friend of my kinda yelled out, "Man, I'm sweating!" Everyone started busting up. Seriously. Once you see The Raid, it will totally change your perception about martial arts choreography in films. Hollywood will have to anty up now.
