It's common knowledge that Bette Davis despised Joan Crawford; perhaps that animosity grew out of this paring, I don't know.

But there's an unforgettable quip from Davis that, upon hearing of Crawford's death, goes like this: "They say you should never speak ill of the dead, only good. Joan Crawford is dead. Good."

As am I. And yes it certainly is.

And a Digibook! I'm adding this to my collection day one, for sure.

Yes, their (mutual) hatred for each other is/was legendary and the quips and quotes are all wonderfully wicked.

If either of you haven't read it already, a great book about the legendary Davis-Crawford rivalry is 'Bette and Joan: The Divine Feud' by Shaun Considine. Trash at its best, but a fun read!

Too bad the re-teaming in 'Hush...Hush Sweet Charlotte' didn't work out, although Olivia de Havilland was fantastic in the Crawford role.

Movies are so rarely great art that if we cannot appreciate great trash
we have very little reason to be interested in them.
