I thought this was an interesting movie. I enjoyed the first one from start to finish. I honestly dozed off in the theater a couple times during the first half. (For the record, I was very tired that day) This being said, I highly enjoyed the last third of this movie!
So I am undecided where I stand on the sequel relative to the first one. I may have to watch this again to form my final conclusion. Either way, it is very much worth a purchase, imho. -

In my opinion this movie does not have a 5 star PQ. I would give about 4 stars. In other words: Is the PQ of this movie equal to Avatar etc.?!

Is there any movie that is truly 5 stars worthy in video? I have never seen any movie on video that has perfect video quality. THere is amazing video, there is gorgeous video, there is demo worthy video, but there is no such thing as perfect video.

Looked as good as it could, considering the film's style, I thought.
No nasties seen by me w/the first pass (the 1st flick is one of my most playED Blu-rays).
Sound was appropriate; just bass lacking in some scenes (IMO).
I was entertainED.
I avoidED all I could bout the movie B4 viewing tho. So much given up these days in multiple trailers.
SurprisED too have a major character from the 1st offED so quickly & thought the third act was better than the first one's as well.
Spoiler:
Hoping they got the comedy out of the way (the situations/not the banter between H&W) & the next (lOOking forward too it already) is all gothic & horror*.

I still say (years and many, many BD's later) that The International is 5-Star video. From pristine night-scene contrast balance and detail, to stunning city fly-overs, to natural fleshtones and facial detail, nothing beats it. Of course, HDD only rated it 4-Star, but ...peh!

Having seen neither SH in the theater, based solely on my home-viewing BD experience at home, I give the edge to Game of Shadows. I seem to recall there being 1 monotonous color in the first movie (blue) in nearly every scene. This mixes it up with some nice outdoor shots. As for story, clearly Jared Harris as Moriarty is a much more formidable foe for Downey's enigmatic Sherlock.
There are only 2 things I disliked in the sequel:
1) The overdone homosexual overtones between Holmes & Watson
2) The inexplicable and completely unnecessary last 3 minutes of the film.
Really, I wish there was a way to set my BD player to omit #2. It would then have been quite a bold, satisfying, & remarkable movie.A great day to be BLU...

I'm talking about disc. I have never seen a single movie without a flaw. You either have movies that have some grain or pixelation or movies that look fine, but have what looks like blocking in reds and browns, and sometimes greens. I'm not sure what their proper name is, but it is easily noticeable in movies like Batman Begins and The Matrix.

Unfortunately the "movie only edition" won't work with the ipad app even though there's a flyer for the app in the case, and despite saying "Watch Maximum Movie mode with Robert Downey Jr." on the sticker that's also MIA from the release.
It really is stripped and not at all made clear the ipad app won't work with it. -

Why would a BD not work on the iPAD?

The ipad app will sync to the movie and provide a running second screen feature, sounds like you haven't used it with the Disney films, it's a great added feature, but it requires the movie be set up to send the right signals, there's an option in the menu of the disc to play the movie in this mode, that menu item is missing from the single disc despite the app not mentioning this limitation.

I don't have an iPad, so no, I have not used it. I have no interest in any internet tablets to be honest. I see no need to have one unless the school I get hired at will use them, but then if they do, I will be provided with a school one anyway.

FWIW after I whined to WB about them having features stickered on the case that weren't in the movie, they asked for me to return it to them via RMA, and their solution was to just send me the multi-disc version, not a bad outcome, but still frustrating to have gone through.
