I enjoyed this show. I didn't think it was that bad, but it was something entertaining to watch in between the other shows I do follow.

"Falling Skies" is an astoundingly mediocre series. Shockingly so, considering the pedigree of some of the people involved--like Graham "I wrote, produced and/or created 3 of the best miniseries in the history of HBO and television, and also 'Justified'" Yost. (Spielberg? Well, not so surprised... I mean, I love him, and always will, but he just throws money at things these days with little regard to quality--especially if he's not actually making it himself).

It's weird that Warner went back to VC-1 and Dolby TrueHD for this release after almost 100% AVC/DTS-HD MA for a better part of a year.

Anne-Marie Sakowitz: No, they all share one.

Agreed. I tried to watch this series twice and couldn't get past the second episode. As for Spielberg: after this and "Smash" he should go to his room without supper.

I have to agree with all the comments about it being shockingly mediocre. Basically, like V, it squandered a lot of opportunities to do something better. On the other hand, there's so little science fiction on TV at the moment, that I must admit to not minding it getting renewed. It's a serviceable time-passer, even if it is mediocre.

As for Smash... I couldn't get past the first episode. It's a waste of good actors like Debra Messing.

I think I talked about it in another thread, but the show is a strange mixture of enjoyable and annoying. Some of the general ideas are fine, and are reasonably interesting. Then there's so much in the show that makes you cringe, since they aren't handling it correctly.
I did find that I had forgotten about the show in the time since I finished the first season, and seeing a promo for it before Avengers.

I got like 5 episodes into this. I could do without all the family parts and character bits - they're just so bad and out of place. And like others have said, the aliens aren't interesting at all. I'd kind of like to see where the story goes, but I'm mostly ambivalent toward watching it again.

If anyone actually is a fan of the show (or is still interested in checking it out), we'll have a contest in the blog starting Monday to give away two copies.

I watched the first few episodes and couldn't go any further.

Not surprised it was renewed though since it seems all my favorite series get cancelled (Jericho, Invasion, Ringer...) and the ones that I think sucks get picked up.
