With Dean Martin and George Kennedy in it, I'll have to buy it. I'm surprised this isn't a Walmart exclusive.

I sure hope Universal uses the original panned-dialog mix for the Blu-ray release and not the destroyed mono-dialog remix that has been used for all home video versions since Airport's first stereo LaserDisc release in the mid-1980's.

Airport was a unique film because Ampex built special 8-channel magnetic interlocked sound reproducers for a few select engagements of Airport. The 8-channel sound layout was: 5 speakers behind the screen in the normal 70mm Todd-AO format, 2 surrounds in stereo and a single overhead channel used only for the PA announcements throughout the film as well a room ambience when showing the main terminal hall, etc... since the 8-track mix was on seperate full-coat mag film, it could also be interlocked with the 35mm anamorphic reduction prints, giving a "better than normal" 35mm stereo surround experience. What great showmanship that mix was!

The standard 6-track mix moved the overhead sound into the 5 front channels or the mono surround, depending on the scene. The 35mm 4-track mag was treated in a similar fashion.
