Having watched this in the theater yesterday, my preorder is officially canceled. Wish I'd never seen it. Wish I could unsee it.

I thought Prometheus had great special effects, action scenes, and sound design. It fell short in story, plot, script, and acting. So basically it fell short in all of the most important areas. At least it played to it's strengths.
My AMC theater now charges $15 for 3D pseudo-IMAX (the projectors are only 2K!) In hindsight, I will only pay that much for a big movie like the next Batman. I can buy a good Blu-ray movie for half the price of that ticket.
Luckily, my brother just bought three X-Men movies that each had a $10 off Prometheus coupon on the face. That made it three tickets for $15.

Oh I agree, the movie fell short on the character development, but come on, they are only there to be cannon fodder, why would you want to get to know the people that are going to die in an hour to 2 hours anyway?

Oh, wow! What a disappointment that was. Not horrible, but still somewhat of a letdown for this massive Alien fanboy.

Movies are so rarely great art that if we cannot appreciate great trash.
we have very little reason to be interested in them.

You're talking about a true stand alone IMAX theater. Do they even show mainstream movies on those? I'm talking about a theater that has been converted to IMAX. We have two of them in Louisville and they are both at Rave Motion Picture theaters. The Cinemark XD theater just opened in Louisville about a month or so ago and it dominates both of the Rave IMAX theaters here locally.

I looked it up because I hadn't heard of XD (extreme digital). It can be up to 38 X 70 and they can play any movie on it, so I assume its some type of digital upscale that won't ever match the quality of the resolution of a movie shot on IMAX film and projected in a real IMAX theater.
