'True Blood: The Complete Fourth Season' - High-Def Digest Review

I hear complaints like this all the time, that people canceled their HBO subscription after The Sopranos ended, or after Deadwood ended, or after some other show disappointed them. Too bad for you, you're missing out on Game of Thrones now, and will probably miss out on something else great that the network cooks up in the future.

HBO is way, way overpriced for the usually 1 good show they air at a time and the two dozen or so mediocre movies that are played in never-ending loops. I was defending the review here, and you decide to jump on my HBO comment.

True Blood season 4 was just the last straw. The channel has been charging way too much to justify its price for a long time now. Game of Thrones is awesome -- I own it on Blu-ray, where it looks and sounds better than it ever did on HBO, anyway. Boardwalk Empire is alright, but not $19 a month alright. I liked both Hung and Bored to Death, but HBO canceled those (along with the AMAZING Deadwood), while keeping jumped-shark garbage like True Blood on the air. I thought this channel wasn't about ratings?!? But quality? It's not TV, and all that.

Off-topic question: Why doesn't this site review Studio Ghibli blus? Some of the best movies out there, and if you can fit in some of the worst (Smokey and the Bandit, Journey 2), it would be nice to get a little love (or even some interesting negative criticism) for the quality that is Ghibli -- not to mention the quality and care Disney has put into the transfers of these films to HD. Thanks!

Some of the best movies out there, and if you can fit in some of the worst (Smokey and the Bandit, Journey 2), it would be nice to get a little love (or even some interesting negative criticism) for the quality that is Ghibli -- not to mention the quality and care Disney has put into the transfers of these films to HD. We didn't get screeners for 'Castle in the Sky' or 'The Secret Life of Arrietty'. I did however purchase them from the store so reviews will be coming shortly.

Not the case. I loved every other season, but this season has jumped the shark, or the fairy, or the fairy shark...



IT DOESN'T BOTHER ME EITHER! I have been watching 'True Blood' this whole time.

Where in the world does that sentence say I'm against sex in the series? All it says is that there's nothing that separates this season of the show from the crappy melodramatic witch/werewolf/vampire/magic crap of 'The Vampire Diaries' except that. Don't read something that isn't there.

I've watched mere minutes of Vampire Diaries and I can still say it isn't true that Season Four is THAT BAD I'll continue to believe that you are hell bent on hating the season no matter what you say. The fact is it's only ten bad minutes, and ten bad minutes alone. If it got worse from there I could see why you reviewed it the way you did, but you didn't. You focused on those ten bad minutes through out your review and those ten bad minutes ALONE! So it stands to reason that I don't think what you wrote was a REAL review. Very biased and very LAZY!

I didn't like season 4 simply because they've gone so far off from the books, where that part of the books was a very cool and interesting storyline, that I couldn't even watch the show. Especially when they killed off one, very important particular fairy. Plus they've made the fairies seem evil, which they never were in the books. No thanks. Either follow the books, or find better writers, simple as that.

I read Harry Potter from book 3 to book 7 and I still LOVE the films and all I hear from others is lame ass complaints like they didn't have this, or they didn't have this, or they changed this, or they changed books. It wasn't just the fairies. The love triangle situation was overly ridiculous this season, even for True Blood, and I think it made everything else seem even more absurd. That said, the season wasn't a total loss, I did enjoy the witch storyline and seeing Bill as the king.

I LOVED the love triangle it wasn't ridiculous watching it again on blu-ray just proves that to be true.

Except that the Angel/Spike/Buffy love triangle was more engaging due to better acting and writing than True Blood. Compared to the Angel-Buffy-verse, it seems every other vampire attempt is nothing more than a shadow of its reflection, imagining that it's better than Joss' creations. As far as I'm concerned the entire True Blood series "jumped the shark".

Actually, personally I think True Blood is just as entertaining as Buffy ever was if not more so True Blood has NEVER "jumped the shark".

'Veep'! Holy crap that show is funny.

Watched Veep WAS NOT interested for the entire 29 minute run time of the first episode, I hate politics and so I guess now I hate political comedies just as much. True Blood is much more fitting to my tastes.

Actually Fast Five is the only Fast & Furious movie I'd qualify with the term "great". When a sequel in such a crap series manages to get a 79% on Rotten Tomatoes I tend to realize how great said sequel really is.
