    Default 'Underworld: Awakening - 3D' - High-Def Digest Review

Still running on a wacky schedule this week, so I'm setting up a few more reviews ahead of time.

You can discuss 'Underworld: Awakening - 3D' here once the review is posted.

I put this disc in and was watching some of the special features before I was actually ready to start the film. I was unable to LEAVE the special features with either the Top or PopUp menu functions. I also could not STOP the disc, or power off my player. I had to hold down the power button to restart the player. I checked , and I have the latest firmware.

I had no problems with it. In fact, it navigates better than 99% of the discs on the market, the way you're able to jump from special feature to special feature without having to hit the main menu (menu tab bringing up the special feature list AND menu screen as an option).

It could be a new issue requiring a firmware upgrade in some players. I used my PS3 for the extras, and did the animatic extra on my panny DMP BDT300 (which is in need of an update soon) and my PS3 to verify lengths, all with no issue

When I get home tonight I'll try the special features again individually. Last night I used "play all".

Where is the review? The link just brings up information and no review.

yeah, this week review threads are going up a bit before reviews. just a timing thing due to the requirement to have a thread linking from the review. should get back to normal pretty soon.

I watched this one last night in 3D. I found the movie itself suprisingly enjoyable, I was prepared to hate it from most of what I've read, but as the other movies it was very well done... and frankly Beckinsale in skin tight leather never gets old.

More suprising was the excellent 3D! Considering it's a dark movie, I was fully anticipating starting the 3D version and switching to 2D once I confirmed it was worthless(as Priest and Saw 3D were). Despite the darkness, shadow detail is never compromised with the glasses on, I detected a very small amount of crosstalk in random scenes, most were completely perfect, and when it did appear it wasn't bothersome at all. And there is always a nice depth to the image, even in dialog scenes.

The 7.1 audio was pure reference quality as I would have expected. Really for the 3D A/V alone this disc is worth owning.

Going to see this when I pick it up Friday. Were there any 3D trailers/previews on the disc?

Actually yes, 3 or 4 trailers in 3D. I wish all of them would do that.

This movie is aweful and an insult to Underworld fans. It takes out everything that made the first three great and just decided to fill it with nothing but hollywood action.

Sweet. Looking forward to seeing those as well....just to get an idea of what to expect from the 3D.
