i thoroughly enjoyed this film and bought it day one.
the trailer for this film really sold it wrong...its not an empty action/survival flick by any means.
characters had depth and backstory and i actually got emotional for a few of them as they "expired"
Liam Neeson was terrific. And sure, the movie may be bleak....but at least its not bleak in a directed-by-Clint-Eastwood sort of way.
I highly recommend to any on the fence...one of my fave movies of the year -

Just watched and can count me in with those that...... loved it. A lot. Basically, it's one of those movies I've rented that I now have a strong urge to go buy and watch again. Great film well worth owning. I also enjoyed Edge but I enjoyed Grey even more.
I basically disagree with most if not all the complaints lobbied against the movie. Ending, character development, and cussing (how does one expect oil rig ex cons that just crash landed in the middle of nowhere being hunted down by wolves to speak? ridiculous argument, the cussing was perfectly appropriate given the setting and circumstances); were all fine to me and felt like those complaining about it watched a different film.
Lastly, the CGI wolves. I must say, while they won't be winning any awards for best special effects any time soon for sure, they didn't look that bad to me at all. Am thinking those complaining about them either have their TV's set to vivid torch mode or are unproperly calibrated?

I think it was total crap. waste of time. it's also like they were trying to set a record for curse words used. The reviewer should have went with his initial thoughts on the movie instead of trying to find some meaning in it. glad I rented it solely for the reason I can tell others not to waste their time.

I thought it was mediocre. Not bad, just so-so.
The Edge was a much better film and it's hard not to compare it to that one.
I think the 4.5 stars rating is crazy.
The audio was very good, though. -

Kind of gave up on reading the comments here...what with everyone comparing it to The Edge.... IT'S A DIFFERENT MOVIE, GET OVER IT!
Anyway, I really enjoyed, i thought the ending was pretty much perfect -

Yeah comments like this should result in automatic revocation of your film assessment privileges. No matter your take on the movie, to call it "total crap" is without merritt based on the performances alone, not to mention the cinematography. Also curse words... A. Grow up. B. If you listen to Neesons description of the type of people working there, you'd know they curse a lot especially when being chased by a pack of pissed off wolves and watching friends being eaten.
And yeah the comments here in general are some of the dumbest I've ever read. This has very little in common with The Edge(which I also love), and has a completely different tone.HT gear: JVC RS46 3D projector with 147in Hi Power screen, Klipsch RF-7 based 9.1 system, Emotiva XPA5 5 channel amp, Pioneer 1120 reciever, Oppo BDP-95(region free), Xbox 360, Toshiba XA2
