Anyone who wants a digital copy of something they own should get a Blu-ray burner and rip their own copy of movies they already own. I got one for under $200 so I could rip Blu-rays for my ipad instead of buying the same movie from itunes and it is well worth it. \
When I think about the amount of times I have purchased certain movies (VHS, DVD, HD-DVD, Blu-ray) it's disturbing, so I am happy to finally exerciser my right as a owner of material knowing (hoping) I will never upgrade from here.PSN: PuppyPuncher -

I would expect (much like Warners dvd2blu program) that so long as it's a commerically produced disc of the same title, they will accept it.
As many of us know, Acetone will remove most any ink. I wonder if it will remove this ink? It would have to be a light application as too much usually eats many plastics too. -

Something I'm curious about. For example, Vudu has Witness with harrison Ford available as an SD purchase, or an HDX rental. Can it even be upgraded for an HDX purchase?
EDIT: Well now I'm not sure what to make of it. Airplane 2 is on that list, but on Vudu it's not available for purchase in any form, rental only. Also Brainscan is on the list, but it's not available on their site at all(at the moment).HT gear: JVC RS46 3D projector with 147in Hi Power screen, Klipsch RF-7 based 9.1 system, Emotiva XPA5 5 channel amp, Pioneer 1120 reciever, Oppo BDP-95(region free), Xbox 360, Toshiba XA2 -

It may be the actual technical / legal? difference between Vudu and UV, the VUDU can not offer a movie in hD/HDX that the studios will not allow them to sell, and in UV the studios are required to make the same movie available in both sd and HD.
Or maybe vudu is waiting to update the catalog? -

Willard and Shocker are also on that list, but not currently in their catalog. Very odd.

Been wondering this myself. Most of the movies I have that I am taking into Wal-Mart next week only have HDX for rental. However, the thing with the disc is, you already OWN the movie. I am sure that this program just simply unlocks movies that you already own, so it seems like you would get the HDX version.
If not, then I have gone from spending about $150 at Wal-Mart next week to spending about $20.
I sure hope you are right. I actually did trade in a few HD-DVDs in that program. I just hope Wal-Mart does the same thing. My HD-DVD player is starting to act up (those players sure were made cheap, surprised it lasted this long), and it sure would be nice to pay like $2, rather than having to rebuy all the movies on Blu-Ray.

They got a pretty good selection up. Yeah, there are plenty of "crap" movies in there, but many are actually pretty good movies. And worse case, if you can't download the list, just take your movies down to Wal-Mart on Monday and let them tell you what is eligible and what isn't.
And don't even bother if its a Disney movie. -

So, does this mean I should convert my DVD, get access to a digital version, and then sell the physical DVD?
I think I could probably sell the physical DVD for more than $2 profit for some disks. So this is arbitrage. -

OK. it looks like the Wal-mart launch is a colossal cockup.
tired to connect my UV account to Vudu and it said my account has a problem. WTF, so I go to the UV website to try to log in, it say my account is locked. Tried to do their unlock procedure and it didn't recognize the secret question.
Last time I log in was a few weeks ago and there were no problems. I'll see if their contact us works -

Yeah, I was having issues with UltraViolet yeterday as well, but I finally got it linked. Was mad that a couple of the Blu-Rays that came with UltraViolet copies showed up in Vudu as SD only. Also, may want to check the Vudu website before going to the store - many movies are only available in SD. It seems to be kind of hit and miss. Like Lawrence of Arabia is only available in SD, yet Matilda is in HD. The first two American Girl movies are in HD, but the third one is SD only. Oh, and I was really mad - I finally picked up a movie on DVD Friday that I had been putting off buying for years because it was not available in Blu, but Vudu DOES have it in HDX, to find out yesterday that they announced a Blu-Ray release a few days ago. Grrr!
However, there are a few movies that the DVD was only 4x3 or 4x3 letterbox that, while it is only SD on Vudu, they have a 16x9 anamorphic version. It is definately worth the $2 to convert those! -

Yeah, I'm still waiting on them. Finally got a ticket numbers so I guess there are about 1000 People in front me. Someone was telling me they had a similar problem because their flixster account password was not compatible with UV. I don't know, I'm still kind of ticked off. There ought to be a way to recover my account short of contacting them. Even when our iTunes account was hacked I was able to get it back myself long before I could get a hold of someone through a damned chat session for the iTunes Store.
BTW most if not all the UV codes that come with movies are for SD copies only. Don't make no sense to me. I was kinda surprised I assumed they'd be for HD at the very least. I suppose they are offering the same level of service we'd got using a code for a digital copy from iTune(sd), Amazon (sd), Vudu (SD),. -

Well I just tried my 1st round of disc to HD digital conversions, it went more or less as expected for a Walmart operation.
I was the 1st customer to do it. I printed a list of the movies to transfer from their site. They checked my discs, all was well, they went to enter my info on their computer... and my account wasn't found/didn't exist. So they tried entering me as a new user, but when they entered my email, it was already in use. I knew something like this couldn't be as easy as 123. So no go today, I might try another store tomorrow, apparently it's any Walmart with a photo center.HT gear: JVC RS46 3D projector with 147in Hi Power screen, Klipsch RF-7 based 9.1 system, Emotiva XPA5 5 channel amp, Pioneer 1120 reciever, Oppo BDP-95(region free), Xbox 360, Toshiba XA2 -

Well I no sooner posted the above, when they called me from the store to let me know they figured the system out lol. So I went over, got the discs registered, bing bang boom, now their in my account in HDX form! I got:
Another 48 Hours
Fallen
Friday the 16th 6-8
Jason Goes to Hell
Tales from the Crypt: Demon Knight
Hard Target
Ravenous
One thing to note, you should check the quality of Vudu's offerings before laying out $5. When I test played Demon Knight, they screwed up the aspect ratio, though HDX, it plays in fullscreen, yet the image is smushed as it was meant to be widescreen. I emailed Vudu about it, hopefully it gets corrected. The rest are good though.
Oh also, Walmart stamps your discs as part of the process "Walmart Entertainment", so you can't pass them onto your buddy to do the same.HT gear: JVC RS46 3D projector with 147in Hi Power screen, Klipsch RF-7 based 9.1 system, Emotiva XPA5 5 channel amp, Pioneer 1120 reciever, Oppo BDP-95(region free), Xbox 360, Toshiba XA2
