There were transfer issues with the original set? I thought it supposed to be demo material, then again it was a early release.

they COULD have been much better, and the exclusion of two film's supplement packages made many collectors find them to be incomplete releases.Nate Boss

Hoping to get a new cult for Christmas. Already tired of playing with the last one. -

If these are new transfers I will pick them up. While I didn't think the originals looked bad, they didn't look as good as I thought they should, considering they aren't all that old.

So in order to get ready for the new movie in July, I am rewatching these now, and man, they do not live up to the test of time that well. The first one is still by far the best, it has a good story, and some great action. The music is fantastic, but the scene in the hospital is so sappy that it makes me want to puke. However, it isn't as bad as the sap in the second movie, which really brings it down. This movie should have had Peter wearing the symbiote suit since he is so damn emotional in the entire movie. Not to mention he hardly ever cracks a joke when he is Spider-Man. The movie has some great moments though, and the battle on the train is cool despite how bad the CGI looks today (and how much there is), but there is way too much drama going on and not enough super hero action. Nevertheless, the best scene is when Jameson is wearing the Spider-Man costume.
Tomorrow I watch the third one, and to be honest, I am not looking forward to it. I mean, if I recall, it ups the drama even more to ridiculous levels that now that I think of it, the only scene I really do remember is the Jazz club scene (as we were talking about earlier)."...somewhere out there, michael bay now has the basis for his next film...and it's all your fault." - project-blu -

The CG in these films never looked right, especially considering how big their budgets were. And like you said, they got Spidey's personality all wrong, with him throwing out only a few totally lame quips instead of being the clever, lovable guy he's supposed to be. Will probably buy these for the movie cash, but I'm so much more excited for the new take.

And then we come to the third movie and I swear this movie started to be filmed in one direction, and then halfway through filming an entirely different crew took over. It is so disjointed and what not. Like, Mary Jane seemed to have multiple personality disorder in this movie. First she is fine, then she is all selfish and acting like a baby, the next she is very concerned for Peter, then she is suddenly caring more about herself again, gets overly jealous out of nowhere, then suddenly decides to kiss Harry, then regrets it, etc. I could go on forever about how awful her character was and how bad her acting was. I think the newspaper review she was reading was probably her performance in the movie itself. Anyway, the scenes with Jameson were excellent, especially with the blood pressure portion and everything with Sandman when he was not with any of the other characters was well done. However, every time he was on scene with another character, he seemed to be just reading his lines instead of acting them. Then you have one of the worst actors out there playing Eddie Brock and Venom, which was majorly half assed. Then you have entire plot convenience of Harry losing his memory because it seemed like the writers did not know how to advance his plot with him wanting revenge on Peter so they just decided to go with amnesia, which disappears out of nowhere so suddenly. And finally, you have Spider-Man, who once again barely made any jokes while he was in costume, and while I loved seeing him as an asshole with the symbiote on, the thing just did not make sense. The symbiote just came out of nowhere and you really could not tell that it was controlling him at all. I could go on forever about how many freaking plot holes and crap this movie has, but I have said enough.
If there is one thing I have noticed, it is this entire series started to repeat what happened to the Batman movies. We had a pretty solid and excellent first movie, a second movie that was great, but somewhat failed as a super hero movie, and then you have the third, which is more drama than a super hero movie full of a convoluted plot with too many coincidences and schizophrenic writing that makes The Matrix Revolutions seem straight forward. It is thankful we did not get a fourth one in this series, because it would probably have been just as bad as Batman & Robin with the way things were going."...somewhere out there, michael bay now has the basis for his next film...and it's all your fault." - project-blu -

I thought the transfers were really nice, and the special features were good enough. I will stick with my trilogy set instead of buying re-issue #1 of 50.
Did the primary buffer panel just fall off my gorram ship for no apparent reason?!
