Hands down the worst ending of any TV show EVER.
As a humble Seattleite, I have to say something. Seattle On Ice kicks this show's butt all over town. And if you have Amazon Prime, you can even read Seattle On Ice for FREE:

Ummm....YES! I'd like that to become a guerrilla marketing campaign ASAP. Can you please start a grass roots effort? I need to fire up sales.
I'm serious though, The Killing is one of the worst shows I've ever seen. I can't believe how many hours it stole from me for NOTHING. If you want a Seattle crime story, you can read one for free on your Kindle, and every hour will at least give you a few laughs. Plus, you'll want to learn how to make osso buco.Check out my books in paperback or Kindle:

It wasn't an ending. It was just a season finale. I really don't understand all the ire toward this show. Ending a season on a cliffhanger has been a well-worn TV tradition since "Who Shot J.R.?"
And if you think this was the worst ending to any TV show ever, clearly you didn't watch the American version of Life on Mars.

Hated it. Liked the first couple episodes, then it started repeating itself, but I wanted to see what had happened. Started getting really heavy handed in trying to convince us a new suspect was guilty every week, but I thought, "I've given this show months of my time, I'm sticking with it!" Then the promos come on, and they say "The truth will be revealed, watch the season finale!" So I watch the season finale, and, and, and, and.... "Find out what happened in Season 2 (which we announced the day before this episode aired)." The entire season was presented as a self-contained investigation, only it wasn't, and the case wasn't very interesting to begin with. Reading interviews with the show-runner did nothing to help me think more highly of this show. I think she showed mind-boggling arrogance and contempt for the audience.

Wait, this isn't out in the US on BD yet..? The American series has been out in the UK for awhile

How is that possible..?
As an aside: I don't think the Danish series is available anywhere on BD yet, is it? -

:)
Well, i've watched both the Danish original and the US remake. And i have to see season 2 of the amc version to know which i like better. The danish original is 20 one-hour episodes and i mean really one hour without commercials so two 13 episode seasons are just as much, but this is America not Denmark and it has to be different. It says in every episode "BASED ON..." if it was the same show a lot less people would've watched it. And for me AMC didn't disappoint with every single series they've produced (too bad Rubicon didn't got picked up). The Killing is a very good crime show, a different non CSI-y, Bones-y, Castle-y etc. It has a real interesting story to tell, and like everything else on tv it's not for everyone. For instance used to LOVE csi in the beginning and by mid season 5 i was so bored because it's the same show over and over again. This shows you a lot more points of view and when they tell us who killed Rosie it will be complete and thorough. I like the slow pace and the attention to the detail. And please enough with the "i've invested this much and that much in this show and they didn't tell me". Nobody put a gun on you head and forced you to watch. You wanna know in 2-3 episodes or in the first episode may be like any other crappy procedural, well i've waited 20 hours to find out who killed Nanna Birk Larsen and i'll be just as patient for Rosie. Go watch NCIS/CSI they will tell you who did it in 39-42 minutes.

Personally, I think The Killing was really, really trying to be a slow, methodical procedural. The problem is that it came across as ham-fisted and boring. I'm all for intricate plots and evolving twists and turns, but nothing about the show felt skillful or satisfying. The final production, and the showrunner's response to wide-spread criticism, reminded me of students I knew in film school who just didn't know when their attempts to produce innovative films had resulted in botched, inept films.
