'Red State' - High-Def Digest Review
Steven has reviewed 'Red State, ' Kevin Smith's foray into "horror." Though it's a big departure from the various adventures of Jay and Silent Bob, Smith's big fans should not hesitate to check this out. This Blu-ray features very strong video and audio, along with a nice assortment of extras. Worth a look.

I would have loved this movie had focused on a central character, trimmed down Michael Parks' 30-minute rant and had the balls to give it Smith's original ending and not featured the exact same 'Burn After Reading' ending.

Hated this movie up until the "twist" near the end, cuz where the rest of the movie strove to be offensive, desensitized and cruel for the sake of shocking you, the twist felt like a genuine moment of brilliance and attention grabbing because it was interesting rather than foul. That they immediately backpedal on the twist and explain it away was just, would have been infuriating if the rest of the movie wasn't already a drudge to watch.
